t/s: super roots series vs rebore series

at the time i remember people wigging out over super roots and naysaying the rebore series ... "oh this is just redundant".

i ended up buying the rebore series because i've always loved lavelle + ken ishii (i loved dj krush but he's gotten boring since) ...

now, listening to the super roots and the rebore discs, i am thinking that the rebore discs are entirely underrated. maybe they'll get a reissue?

and this is without even bringing up the awe-inspiring majesty of REBORE VOL 0 ...

well holy christ,

SR 3 and 5 are just bonkers and bliss.

Boredoms are Boredoms, and always will be Boredoms. your life = Boredoms.

fucking Bore Now Bore, suckers.

SUPER AE IS REQUIRED LISTENING.
also Pop Tatari and ...hmmm........ Soul Discharge.

way to stay on topic bro.

haven't there been enough boredoms threads?

i've only heard rebore 0 so i can't judge, but i dig it cuz its got some of the jungle taeitai (my fav super roots) vibe. it samples some of the super roots stuff too, right? at least part of the mekons one.

i should be more educated on the boredoms.

Rebore 1 through 3 are as epic as vision creation newsun but essentially insane turntabilism

i was just listening to the last song on rebore 0 and i couldn't tell if the mp3 was bad or it was supposed to skip. probably a fucked up mp3 because it sounded kinda awful.

artdamages, Monday, 26 February 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

I just started listening to the Super Roots series (only the first so far), so no time for Rebore series yet.

Ivan, Monday, 26 February 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)

artdamages, no skips on that one

Super Roots 10 this year too

JW, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 18:20 (eighteen years ago)

super roots 7 > everything else

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 18:28 (eighteen years ago)

problems w/ super roots 7

1) bookended by wack weakness
2) not enough bongo
3) not enough phasing
4) sometimes motorik sounds limp because there's not enough dynamic range (i have the same problem with NEU! - if i am in the right mood it sounds godly, if i am in the wrong mood i am always like "doesn't this get any LOUDER???")

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 18:30 (eighteen years ago)

anyway i just started this thread because i was mega-enthused about picking up the super roots, i have been thinking about them for a long time now, since 5 years ago when i blew my $150 wad on the 4 rebore volumes and didn't have any money left for the super roots, and they disappeared and never came back ...

imagine my surprise when i was like all, UH, i've heard this before, except the other version had james lavelle scratching the beastie boys over it, and dj krush pitch-shifting it, and ken ishii doing whatever ken ishii did.

roots 7 sounded fantastic on headphones when i bought a real copy of it finally a few weeks ago.

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

10??????

i'm excited.

kraemlin, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:08 (eighteen years ago)

Rebore 0 >>>>> Super Roots 7 & 8 >>>>> any of the other Rebores or Super Roots (I will admit to not listening to the other Rebores very closely so I can't say that with much authority.)

Strongo OTM on SR 7, I just got this on green vinyl and it is one of the most glorious listening experiences to be had in this dubious world. Rebore 0 is my 2nd favorite, though.
