Let's get started

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 14:15 (nineteen years ago)

I do absolutely love that song (the version w/ T.I. and T-Pain, at least).

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 14:16 (nineteen years ago)

yeah it's brilliant.

lex pretend, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 14:17 (nineteen years ago)

ILM hivemind don't fail me now!

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 14:23 (nineteen years ago)

yes i'm loving this

cutty, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 14:41 (nineteen years ago)

She Be Callin Me Daddyyyyy,
And I Be Callin Her Mommyyyyy
She Be Callin U Kellyyyyy,
When Yo Name Is Tommyyyyy!

brill.

(also i'm kinda pleased for t-pain finally getting some sorta normal public rnb spot where he doesnt have to come off like his usual cartoon grotesque. his album wz really good, i honestly think he couldve had a decent piece of polow's/akon's/wyclef's/will i am's pie in 2006 if he didnt come off quite so obnoxiously gimmicky all the time. well ok i dunno, he is still very gimmicky on this tune but it lends him a bit of serious cache in my head at least.)

r|t|c, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 15:47 (nineteen years ago)

uh nothing new to say here really except this song is great and i'm glad he's making music people are paying attention to again beyond novelty

deej, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

I thought "Don't Let Go" was the single? Haven't heard this...

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 15:54 (nineteen years ago)

"Don't Let Go" was the single off the Daddy's Little Girls sdtk, but I think "Flirt" is the lead single for his new album.

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 15:56 (nineteen years ago)

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 16:59 (nineteen years ago)

good song, would be better if was a cover of 'passion' by the flirts

and what, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:24 (nineteen years ago)

If we could still change names, I don't think I'd be able to resist changing mine to "Teddy Pender-ass"

And oh yeah, this is grebt.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:19 (nineteen years ago)

The New, Slightly Improved ILM: you can't switch goofy aliases every five minutes, but you can still say "grebt"

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:25 (nineteen years ago)

*bows with aplomb*

The Reverend, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:27 (nineteen years ago)

hey, this is a nice song.

sunny days.

M@tt He1ges0n, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:30 (nineteen years ago)

that piano line is great!! i forgot how much kels rules when he's on.

max, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:38 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah the piano part is awesome. I prefer "Don't Let Go" though.

The Brainwasher, Friday, 2 March 2007 01:38 (nineteen years ago)

Lovely; clearly not lost a step yet.

forksclovetofu, Friday, 2 March 2007 02:36 (nineteen years ago)

girl you know who i am, don't hate!

modestmickey, Friday, 2 March 2007 04:52 (nineteen years ago)

"I'm young, black and sing. Plus I'm rich."
This has been on heavy repeat lately. I like that it sounds more like an action than a description as in "I'm ah flirt".

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 3 March 2007 17:45 (nineteen years ago)

R. Kelly is forty years old.

The Reverend, Saturday, 3 March 2007 19:17 (nineteen years ago)

Plus he's rich!

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 3 March 2007 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

i love when he says "unless your game is tight and you trust her," which strikes me as a sort of progressive (or something) nod to good, strong relationships (and acknowledges that there are girls who wont cheat on their dudes, even with kels)

max, Sunday, 4 March 2007 02:28 (nineteen years ago)

girlfriend just asked "did somebody on an r kelly song just call him teddy pederast?"

forksclovetofu, Sunday, 4 March 2007 16:37 (nineteen years ago)

also, R should NEVER use the word "bathroom" in his songs.
Dude, somebody made a successful parody song about you peeing on people. Ixnay on the athroombay, already.

I'm just kiddin' Kells. Pee away.

forksclovetofu, Sunday, 4 March 2007 16:42 (nineteen years ago)

Surely R. Kelly prefers to relieve himself in the boudoir, no?

The Reverend, Sunday, 4 March 2007 22:50 (nineteen years ago)

asking God to "shower down on me, wet me with your love" in his song written to plead for people to lay off him over the peeing charges is WAY funnier than anything in "Pee On You"!

energy flash gordon, Monday, 5 March 2007 04:34 (nineteen years ago)

one month passes...
at the risk of sounding orson-y, two more songs have leaked: blow it up, and this is why i'm cold. neither are the perfection of i'm a flirt. but! "we gotta lot of ass in the place/perfect cuz i like ass in my face"

Belisarius, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 09:46 (eighteen years ago)

this is why i'm cold

Surriously?

The Reverend, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 10:03 (eighteen years ago)

"I'm cold cuz I'm hot/You ain't cuz you not"

jergïns, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 10:21 (eighteen years ago)

i love when he says "unless your game is tight and you trust her," which strikes me as a sort of progressive (or something) nod to good, strong relationships (and acknowledges that there are girls who wont cheat on their dudes, even with kels)

baaderonixx, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 12:52 (eighteen years ago)

BOOOO.

The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 12:56 (eighteen years ago)

Looks like a mixtape cover. I do love those spiderman/ray charles glasses, though.

The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 12:57 (eighteen years ago)

it's like he's wearing everything he wore in his past five video guest-spots at once!!!

maura, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 14:32 (eighteen years ago)

Note to self: filch R. Kelly's stunna shades

The Reverend, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 15:27 (eighteen years ago)

aaand we're back in the closet.

good tho!

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 May 2007 08:09 (eighteen years ago)

"well it must be a music thing / (mmm) / cos she said the same thing to me"

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 May 2007 08:12 (eighteen years ago)

omg i love this

maura, Thursday, 3 May 2007 12:58 (eighteen years ago)

"the boy is mine"...with penises!

strongohulkington, Thursday, 3 May 2007 13:22 (eighteen years ago)

(and i approve.)

strongohulkington, Thursday, 3 May 2007 13:22 (eighteen years ago)

wasn't "The Boy Is Mine" itself a gender reversal of the Macca/Jacko duet, though? still, man, i really wanna hear this but'll have to wait until i get home tonight.

Alex in Baltimore, Thursday, 3 May 2007 13:26 (eighteen years ago)

haha yeah, i love how 'the boy is mine' is sassy nuh-uh strut while the guy version just turns into schoolboy high-fives about how theyre gonna do her over later

really wanna transcribe loads of it but ok i won't ruin it!

r|t|c, Thursday, 3 May 2007 13:33 (eighteen years ago)

how come usher didn't ask if kells peed on her

cutty, Thursday, 3 May 2007 13:34 (eighteen years ago)

they don't do that at georgia tech

strongohulkington, Thursday, 3 May 2007 13:36 (eighteen years ago)

Meh. You got me all excited for nothing.

The Reverend, Thursday, 3 May 2007 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

DVD for Trapped eps 12-22 coming out this summer!

baaderonixx, Thursday, 3 May 2007 16:26 (eighteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

OMG OMG OMG.

The lyrics are fucking ridiculous/filthy! But awesome!

More on the music later.

Tape Store, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 23:58 (eighteen years ago)

(not that his other lyrics aren't, but these are especially crazy)

Tape Store, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 23:58 (eighteen years ago)

Unsurprisingly, I think this song is embarrassing for him.

HI DERE, Thursday, 24 May 2007 00:23 (eighteen years ago)

The piano on this reminds me of "Benny and the Jets" (good thing).

m bison, Thursday, 24 May 2007 00:24 (eighteen years ago)

And I'm obviously referring to the album tracks, not Flirt, which undeniably brilliant. Anyone heard "Sex Planet" or "Real Love"?

Tape Store, Thursday, 24 May 2007 00:28 (eighteen years ago)

That chord progression is competely addictive. I mean this is damn near six minutes and NOT NEARLY long enough. I'm starting to think that T-Pain is a genious.

The Reverend, Thursday, 24 May 2007 03:33 (eighteen years ago)

When I pull up to the club all the shawties be like, "Daaaaamn--28's!"

I love how happy he sounds! Happy but deluded. Unless the shawties walk around with tape measures.

dr. phil, Thursday, 24 May 2007 03:37 (eighteen years ago)

"genius", arhh

The Reverend, Thursday, 24 May 2007 03:44 (eighteen years ago)

Urgh - I'm really not feeling the new album, big let down compared to the last one.

baaderonixx, Monday, 4 June 2007 13:41 (eighteen years ago)

"The Zoo" lyrics are fucking classic. "Beat the skins like a bongo", "just like Jurassic Park, but baby I'm your sex-a-saurus". And those monkey calls!

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Monday, 4 June 2007 13:46 (eighteen years ago)

oh c'mon...it's not a great album by any means, but it's way way better than TP3: Reloaded, which had like 2 good songs, a bunch of bad reggae/dancehall/reggaeton pastiches, and "Trapped."

Alex in Baltimore, Monday, 4 June 2007 13:48 (eighteen years ago)

No way. TP3 was pretty fantastic, especially the dancehall/reggaeton pastiches!

baaderonixx, Monday, 4 June 2007 14:02 (eighteen years ago)

i like sex planet.

not heard the zoo yet but the lyrics are amazing.

i wanna hear the whole thing.

titchyschneiderMk2, Monday, 4 June 2007 14:14 (eighteen years ago)

"Slow Wind" is a stone cold classique. The "meh" parts of TP-3 are where he plays it straight. A shame that the "Kitchen" remix wasn't included, though.

The Reverend, Monday, 4 June 2007 14:21 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know why, but the smooth faux-reggae-lite of "Freaky in the Club" is hitting me the right way this morning.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 13:43 (eighteen years ago)

daaaaaaamn 28's!

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)

so far not feeling the new album. he sounds a little sluggish not quite the usual nimble r we know and love - too much rap cadence or something. like really whats the diff between him and chamillionaire on get dirty.

The Brainwasher, Sunday, 30 March 2008 05:16 (seventeen years ago)

this is a pretty great thread. anyway this song is pretty awesome, but i'm gonna have to defer to moolabear on this one:

CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR THE REMIX lol cuz u kno there's ALWAYS a remix!

J0rdan S., Sunday, 30 March 2008 05:42 (seventeen years ago)

i mean this is just good in a kind of pedestrian way, kinda sounds like the only pretty good stuff t-pain's been responsible for lately, not really flat out brilliant like 'i'm a flirt' or 'step in the name of love' or w/e, though who even knows if that's what he was even aiming for

J0rdan S., Sunday, 30 March 2008 05:47 (seventeen years ago)

pretty good melody though

J0rdan S., Sunday, 30 March 2008 05:47 (seventeen years ago)
