It says here: "I think the main thing is to mix things up; things that maybe shouldn't go together," he said. "I'm hoping to get a weird mix of contemporary things and revivals of old stuff; and as much as possible that involves audience participation to a degree. I'm hoping to get some film stuff together. There will high culture there, and low culture; some very low."

Etc. etc.

Jarvis Cocker really does need to fuck off.

Dom Passantino, Friday, 2 March 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

I mean, I can't think of a more pathetic figure in indie, and it's getting to the point where he's going to overtake David Van Day as the most pathetic figure in music full stop.

Dom Passantino, Friday, 2 March 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

he's alright. is a bit overexposed with very little to show for it, granted and maybe his reinvention as self-appointed elder spokesman for indie kids is slightly annoying but i could think of worse people.

Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown Festival programme, announced today in the Observer's Review section, is a study in contrasts. In an eclectic line-up for the South Bank Centre's summer arts jamboree, the former Pulp lead singer has put vintage Disney tunes on the same bill as heavy rockers Motorhead and made strange bedfellows of folk singer Melanie, a star of the Sixties and Seventies, and subversive Eighties band The Jesus And Mary Chain.

The Observer is a media partner of Meltdown 2007 and tickets go on sale at 9am on Thursday. Between 9am and 1pm, 150 of the best seats for all events will be held back for Observer readers. Call 0871 6632520 quoting 'Observer reader offer' to book these seats.

JAMC!!! JAMC!!! JAMC!!!!

Do I really want to admit to being an "Observer reader" because that sounds worse than "Guardian reader".

CharlieNo4, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:17 (eighteen years ago)

With S&J gone I have no idea who to ask for tickets to Meltdown any more!

Masonic Boom, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:19 (eighteen years ago)

What has Jerry Dammers been doing all these years? I lost track of him ages ago.

curmudgeon, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:22 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to the Devo one. Bloody expensive though, I dunno if I can afford JAMC as well :( Hope they play somewhere other than RFH.

Colonel Poo, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:30 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, like GLASGOW (though I may be tempted down to London for it)

ailsa, Monday, 30 April 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

Is Gonzales still doing his solo piano thing? I can't be bothered with that...

braveclub, Monday, 30 April 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)

I'd actually be most interested in the Willner thing!

Ned Raggett, Monday, 30 April 2007 16:19 (eighteen years ago)
