Bands that Beavis & Butthead were right about VS. Bands they were wrong about

I think they were right about GWAR because when they were watching "The Road Behind" all they ever really said were things like "GWAR! GWAR! GWAR!" and "G-G-G-W-W-W-W-A-A-A-R-R-R-R" which is all you can ever really say when GWAR is playing.

They were right about "Fake Plastic Trees" because they said they like to listen to that while they mellow out.

billstevejim, Saturday, 3 March 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

Beavis was kind of right about something being shamfully infectious in Bon Jovi's "Give Me Something For The Pain." And about something being not-so-shamefully infectious about MC 900 Foot Jesus's "If I Only Had A Brain"

Whiney G. Weingarten, Saturday, 3 March 2007 17:30 (eighteen years ago)

Actually, they were pretty much right 99% of the time.

The only time I remember them being WRONG was when they called "Push The Little Daises" retarded. And even they realized their gaffe, and then gave "Freedom Of '76" a glowing review the next year.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Saturday, 3 March 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

both right and wrong: Morrissey

Curt1s Stephens, Saturday, 3 March 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

Actually, they thought Morbid Angel was pretty stupid, but admittedly, that was a pretty stupid video.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Saturday, 3 March 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

They were right about Morrissey.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Saturday, 3 March 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

Beavis said many times he likes to spank his monkey to "Push Th' Little Daisies," which Butthead thought was strange. Both assessments seem correct .

billstevejim, Saturday, 3 March 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

I don't remember what they said about "I Can't Put My Finger On It," but they liked Ween a lot.

billstevejim, Saturday, 3 March 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)

Beavis and Butthead introduced me to Devo, and for that I am eternally grateful.

(PS: They also introduced me to the wonders of Grim Reaper: "Seeeee youuuu in HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLL!!!")

MacDara, Saturday, 3 March 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)

An exchange of two sentences that made three errors was actually the most astute observation they ever made. A Black Sabbath video came on and Beavis said, "Are these dudes from Seattle?" Butthead responded, "No dumbass, they're American."

I always thought the world would have been a - not necessarily better but more interesting place had they disliked White Zombie and liked Overkill's "Hello From The Gutter."

Beavis and Butthead introduced me to Devo

Weird Al introduced me to Devo... This is probably a thread in its own right...

What an amazing show.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Saturday, 3 March 2007 18:10 (eighteen years ago)

These guys need to quit screwing around and get back to making sandwiches

Whiney G. Weingarten, Saturday, 3 March 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

Is there a clip online of them watching Morrissey?

Sundar, Saturday, 3 March 2007 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

(Which track was it?)

Sundar, Saturday, 3 March 2007 19:49 (eighteen years ago)

B+B on Pavement:
"They're so lazy, they'd take a dump in the bathtub."
"The Jesus Lizard suck, but at least they're trying. These guys aren't even trying."
"Try harder, dammit! Try harder!"

the first one seems right, the second one is half right (the second half, obvs), the third i'd say no.

davelus, Sunday, 4 March 2007 02:58 (eighteen years ago)

On Poison:
"Are these chicks?"
"No dude - Winger's chicks"

schwantz, Sunday, 4 March 2007 03:18 (eighteen years ago)

Is there a clip online of them watching Morrissey?

There used to be on youtube, but they took it down I guess. :( The video, of course, was "November Spawned a Monster."

"Hey look, Beavis, he's got a band-aid on his boob!"

Curt1s Stephens, Sunday, 4 March 2007 03:21 (eighteen years ago)

I'd really like to see that Pavement one.

31g, Sunday, 4 March 2007 04:35 (eighteen years ago)

they also liked the Cure!

Eisbaer, Sunday, 4 March 2007 06:40 (eighteen years ago)

and b/c of them, i STILL am wondering, "who the HELL were greta?!? and just why WAS their lead singer wearing a dress in that video?!?"

Eisbaer, Sunday, 4 March 2007 06:41 (eighteen years ago)

Thom Yorke rly does look like Ed Grimley

A B C, Sunday, 4 March 2007 08:37 (eighteen years ago)

fuck, the pavement one was so funny. however, the best critical judgement beavis and butthead ever made was on pantera.

"uh, the pantera guy's dad must have like, totally kicked his ass when he was a kid. 'treat your stepmother with respect, pantera'. huhuhu."

davie, Monday, 5 March 2007 07:00 (eighteen years ago)

I was just thinking of that. "dammit pantera, this beer's warm!"

daria-g, Monday, 5 March 2007 14:15 (eighteen years ago)

Beavis and Butthead introduced me to "Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe."

Damn them.

Telephone thing, Monday, 5 March 2007 21:29 (eighteen years ago)

B+B on Pavement:

I'm assuming this is for "Cut Your Hair," but what's the possibility that "Try harder!" is a meta-reference to "Conduit for Sale!"?

jaymc, Monday, 5 March 2007 21:31 (eighteen years ago)

Do these get taken down from YouTube?

JW, Monday, 5 March 2007 21:36 (eighteen years ago)

how old would Beavis and Butthead be these days?

I wonder what sort of the music they would love at the mo, Mastodon?

djmartian, Monday, 5 March 2007 21:38 (eighteen years ago)

Roughly 25 or 26?

A further adventures of B+B series would be uber depresso though :(

JW, Monday, 5 March 2007 21:42 (eighteen years ago)

Mostly depressing because of how little I've done since the show ended.

JW, Monday, 5 March 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)

B + B thought Cycle Sluts From Hell rocked. They were wrong.

henry s, Monday, 5 March 2007 22:28 (eighteen years ago)

I vaguely remember them just going "uh" and "this is rilly weird" to Morphine "Honey White". Also possibly asking "does this rock? I don't know".

nickalicious, Monday, 5 March 2007 22:35 (eighteen years ago)

Anyone remember Six Finger Satellite's?

JW, Monday, 5 March 2007 22:47 (eighteen years ago)

i'm pretty sure they liked it but i don't remember what they said.. it was 'parlour games'

daria-g, Monday, 5 March 2007 22:49 (eighteen years ago)

u_u

JW, Monday, 5 March 2007 22:53 (eighteen years ago)

they would've loved kid rock i bet.

M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 5 March 2007 23:06 (eighteen years ago)

Did the video segment survive long enough to see the dawn of Limp Bzikit?

JW, Monday, 5 March 2007 23:26 (eighteen years ago)

Ooooo I dunno. I think it would have been Korn before it was LB

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Monday, 5 March 2007 23:28 (eighteen years ago)

they did watch a korn video if memory serves.

strongohulkington, Monday, 5 March 2007 23:34 (eighteen years ago)

I mean the Faith video would have brought the roffles

JW, Monday, 5 March 2007 23:36 (eighteen years ago)

"You know those asswipes the Beatles? Those dudes ruined music."

DavidM, Monday, 5 March 2007 23:38 (eighteen years ago)

The Pavement video was "Rattled By the Rush." It doesn't seem to be on YouTube anymore.

slugbuggy, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 00:03 (eighteen years ago)

slugbuggy, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 00:06 (eighteen years ago)

they would've loved kid rock i bet.

For some reason I cannot picture them enjoying anything by kid rock, except maybe bawitdaba, and thats pushing it.

billstevejim, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 08:29 (eighteen years ago)

..although i think they liked lenny kravitz.

billstevejim, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 08:32 (eighteen years ago)

is there really ANY B&B friendly genre left that's commercially viable?!?

for some reason, i can see them liking eminem -- or any rap video with hot chicks, guns, and fast cars.

Eisbaer, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 10:10 (eighteen years ago)

... i would pay lotsa money to see them react to a coldplay video, though. i wonder if they would abuse it mercilessly ([i]a la[/] grim reaper or "november spawned a monster") or just give 'em the silent treatment (like they did to vanilla ice and milli vanilli).
