That period around '93-'94 had so much stuff that crossed boundaries between hardcore, jungle, and drum & bass that there are a lot of blurred definitions. I guess Cloud 9 is *strictly* d&b, but given the varied choices upthread I'm sticking by it!

That Grooverider compilation you linked to illustrates my point - a couple of years later and there's no way Slipmatt would have been played out in the same set as Alex Reece or Bukem, and the scene was all the poorer for the genre barriers that came down.
