Help with lyric: Elyse Weinberg's "Houses"

any guesses on the third line of each verse in this, unbelievably awesome
song? the line that goes, "even if we were both_______". it sounds like
she says something different in each verse. "well meaning", "well meant",
"well mannered". i've always wondered. any thoughts?
