Do you ever say things like "Wahay, the Gossip are TOP TEN!! oh darn, won't get a TOTP performance."

?

I do miss it quite a bit. friday night watching TOTP was great...start the weekend angry with half an hour of unfathomable shite, with maybe one or two gold nuggets if you're lucky.

these days, the preponderance of indie guitar bands in the charts means that it would be not quite so obviously objectionable (according to my own tastes), just more...dull. I'd rather get angry at boyzone than bored shitless by the view.

anyway, TOTP died the moment andy peters took over and tried to turn it into TOTP2, only shitter.

btw, I actually went to TOTP once. mis-teeq and muse were pretty good, bryan adams was emphatically NOT, and neil diamond was embarassing in more ways than one. he just wouldn't leave the stage. many people headed for the exits. it was ugly.

(I'm puzzled by your choice of name, btw)

it's not a tribute to you, if that's what you're thinking. sorry!

(no worries)

Wasn't TOTP2 good this week, even if its highlight was the Scars doing "All About You" which was actually from OGWT?

Fixing things in NuLX is a pain.

I miss The ITV Chart Show more.

Its weekly envelope-pushing diet of Des'Ree and Richard Darbyshire.

ITV CHART SHOW OTM.

Never too much Johnny Hates Jazz for the ITV Chart Show.

Beware of rose-coloured revisionism. You'll be wanting The Roxy back next.

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 5 March 2007 14:48 (eighteen years ago)

The Roxy = endless Kursaal Flyers album tracks, if I remember rite...

Eh? It ran in 1987-8. Kid Jensen and a professional Irishman compered. The only tangible performance I remember on it was the Fall doing "Hit The North."
