Funkadelic on CD

I recently noticed a multitude of Funkadelic CD reissues that apparently have liner notes and bonus tracks. Can't tell if they've been remastered or not--I'm wondering if anyone knows how they sound and if it's worth picking up a few.

They have been remastered, and from what I've been told sound pretty great, but I haven't actually bought any myself.

Worth noting, maybe: the Ohio Players albums on Westbound are getting similar treatment next week.

A friend had the Maggot Brain reissue but it didn't look any different or have any bonus tracks on it. I'd be surprised if there were any bonus tracks beyond maybe the stuff that was released on the "Music For My Mother" 45s comp...?

?
all of the 2005 reissues have bonus tracks and great liner notes. The Maggot Brain reissue bonus tracks are: Whole Lot of BS, I Miss My Baby and an alternate mix of the title track

all the ones I've heard sound a ton better than the original hiss-filled CD issues

"an alternate mix of the title track "

haha - one without the rest of the band faded out...?

Must've been an older reissue I was lookin at. (I'll stick with the vinyl)

All the Westbound ones (I think) were reissued towards the end of 2005, remastered, with liner notes and bonus cuts.

The sound is good, but a touch too compressed-for-modern-tastes - the original CDs weren't that great SQ-wise though so it's not a tremendously big issue. The Essential Sly comp sounds WAY better though, as a comparison, and the Charly reissue of One Nation Under... is also more dynamic/intimate/realistic.

That said, "Red Hot Mama" FUCKING OWNS, too loud, or not.

Last year I bought Free your mind..., the s/t and Cosmic Slop - all sound magnificently and have bonus tracks (that are def. worth the midprice I paid)

Thanks dudes. I'll probably grab a couple. Nice about the OH Players as well, though the only record I like of theirs is Honey which I have on sweet, sweet, LP.

the remasters are great, but the US versions have ass-ugly tray art (which is a v. minor quibble) and standing on the verge cuts off a chunk of "i'll stay" and a larger chunk of "good thoughts bad thoughts." the UK version doesn't have that problem so go with that one if you're getting it, which of course you should be, because it's awesomer than at least 90% of your record collection. i don't care what you record collection looks like.
