is there really no thread for the new album, btw? i want to know what ILM thinks before i go ahead and buy it anyway.

grimly fiendish, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

the new one is kind of a let down after the last two...it's "difficult fall album" type stuff.

M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:40 (eighteen years ago)

he's being interviewed on radio 6 at the moment.

bidfurd, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

Will be sure to drink the looooong draught tonight.

Jena, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:42 (eighteen years ago)

Why o why are people grudgeful boy?

sexyDancer, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:43 (eighteen years ago)

The new album is freaking great. Really. First version of the Fall that's had some character in forever.

Tim Ellison, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:45 (eighteen years ago)

I'm looking forward to his upcoming book.

Grimly, you and I are never on ILM at the same time. What a nice surprise that we seem to be today!

Bimble, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:53 (eighteen years ago)

indeed!

grimly fiendish, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

I've heard there's a song or two about his now-legendary mid-tour break-up and onstage fight w/backing band.

unfished business, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

Reformation Post TLC is the same as almost every album since Extricate: half genius, half crap. And no two Fall fans will agree on which songs go in which category.

Mr. Odd, Monday, 5 March 2007 21:25 (eighteen years ago)

the rhythms r spritely
IT GOT THAT SNAP

sexyDancer, Monday, 5 March 2007 21:36 (eighteen years ago)

I think the new album is more genius than crap though.

He looks 62. http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41434000/jpg/_41434156_markesmith_203.jpg

I imagine he feels 62 too...as far as I know he sits down through many of the Fall's concerts, though that might be for the sake of focusing on reading his lyrics rather than energy conservation.

Faisal Shennib, Monday, 5 March 2007 22:32 (eighteen years ago)

I like his mad comb over .

Drooone, Monday, 5 March 2007 22:34 (eighteen years ago)

happy birthday-uh

latebloomer, Monday, 5 March 2007 22:47 (eighteen years ago)

I'll drink one for him tonight.

JW, Monday, 5 March 2007 22:48 (eighteen years ago)

I know he sat down during concerts when his hip was broken, but I don't know otherwise.

Tim Ellison, Monday, 5 March 2007 22:51 (eighteen years ago)

HOist-an an-a ALE-a to Mr Mark E Smith right-a bleedin' now whilst listening to Fortress/Deer Park!

Everytime I hear Hex Enduction Hour I want to call five friends and sing the Fall's praises - damn if everyone I care about shouldn't just adore the Fall right along with me!

Lookin' forward to that Book Mr. Smith ... stateside release is when?

BlackIronPrison, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 03:33 (eighteen years ago)

July, isn't it?
