What UK indie is really indie these days? Anyone growing beyond a boutique?

What UK indies are indeed indies....more than a boutique? really gets the news out there about their artists?

What about Young & Lost Club? Aren't they just two girls putting out singles by bands they like? They certainly have a pretty good graduation rate (Good Shoes, Larrikin Love, Vincent Vincent & the Villains, Pull Tiger Tail, and Fear of Flying all put out their debut releases on YALC), although your mileage on whether or not that's a good thing will probably vary.

FWIW I think they probably have the most consistent output of any of the post-Libertines UK indie folx. Every time I see that they've got a single coming out, I pull out my credit card.

label fandango are consistently putting out far better releases than both the parent labels (pointy and fierce panda, the latter of which has put out pretty much only turds in the last couple of years). some stuff is a bit hard to get though.

agree young & lost have put out some really really good stuff, although their publicity could be better.

i dig everything that marquis cha cha releases and they seem to do pretty well for themselves..

kids records seem to be growing in stature too, a couple of duds but most of their releases have impressed me, particularly the wombats
