Sebadoh 2007 tour (ATTENTION: Dawson and Dog Faced Hermans fans)

so I just saw Sebadoh do the 6th gig of their new tour here in Eugene Oregon. They are touring with an opening band called Bent Moustache that I had never heard of, but it has Wilf Plum from the mighty Dog Faced Hermans on drums and the guitar played from Dawson (whose name escapes me because I think I misplaced the CD I bought from them earlier this evening). They have a CD and a single out..

anyway, the Sebadoh set was great but this Bent Moustache crew is the best thing I have seen in at least 6 months, totally channelling The Fall yet not derivative or cliche. I am drunk. I will perhaps write more later but if you were gonna pass Sebadoh up I think this opener thing is a strong plus.

I doubt I could take another Sebadoh gig. The last one had ole Barlow running off the stage and the rest of the band begging the audience to find him. I just walked out.

What albums did Sebadoh pull the most from?

I am SOOOO psyched - what a bill this is - I'm a big dog faced hermans fan so the news about what the heck bent moustache is all about is totally making my day - thanks for the info and anticipation - not to mention the fact that friggin YouamI is playing with them - god I love them and when they play the states they're too often regulated to playing support to some crappy Aussie flavor of the month (Jet - blecchhh!). What a great show this will be in Chi-town that night! (Metro - 3/21)!

I am dubious but will go early for Bent Moustache on the 31st here, I spose...

the guitar player is named Jer Reid, he is indeed from Dawson but is not on the Bent Moustache CD that I bought - I think he's filling in for tour but maybe he joined the band. He is selling a CD he made with some folks from Huasipungo under the name Claque.

Sebadoh played a ton of stuff from III and Smash Your Head. Eric had two new songs that they played. Also some predictable Barlow hits - "Rebound" and "Soul On Fire".

I wanted to comment that the band not only played well but seemed to have completely shed that ultra-uncomfortable, viciously self-effacing vibe that they had before. There wasn't a trace of sarcasm in the set. They all seemed like they were having a blast. With the caveat that I was a heavily devoted fanboy back in the day, I think this new tour is worth seeing if you ever liked them.

Playing the Dino Jr. Live In The Middle East DVD (May release). On a new laptop, so still trying diff audio settings. So far I like "The Post" best of the fullbore sludgeroar. Later, tunes get a little more discernible, but I haven't played the whole thing yet. Lou bears down on the bass, wish I could hear his voice more. (Think there's another EQ...) What will "Just Like Heaven" sound like, it's the last track.(17.) Then the interviews! Think I'll give my ears a smoke break.
