i heard this yonks ago and thought it'd be the "sunscreen" for a generation ... then i forgot about it completely and nobody's mentioned it since.

myspace link

am listening again and yeh, it's okay. if we're gonna do this kind of thing, i prefer "munchausen", though :)

grimly fiendish, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 23:13 (eighteen years ago)

OK the search function didn't work for me in this case - apols.

braveclub, Friday, 9 March 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

nah, it didn't show up in search for me either: it was still down the arse-end of new answers.

perhaps having two threads will prompt someone else to say something about it?

grimly fiendish, Friday, 9 March 2007 16:49 (eighteen years ago)

I tried to listen to this. It was all going well until that twat opened his mouth.

Noodle Vague, Friday, 9 March 2007 16:51 (eighteen years ago)

Also like 'Development' where he raps the Table of Elements

braveclub, Friday, 9 March 2007 16:53 (eighteen years ago)

"Thou shalt remember that guns, bitches and bling were never part of the four elements and never will be."

How do you say something like this with a straight face and not have to shoot yourself in the head afterwards? WTF sincerity.

fies, Monday, 19 March 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

the first couple of lines are 'you should not take the name of joe strummer in vain' and later 'the clash, just a band'. tsk.

there are a bunch of songs in a similar vein around at the moment, list songs that hue and rob will happily play - 'I'm Your Boyfriend Now' and the Jegsy Dodd thing spring to mind. list songs basically. kinda lazy.

koogs, Monday, 19 March 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)

I like it!

StanM, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 13:50 (eighteen years ago)

not the other tracks, though. :-/

StanM, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 13:57 (eighteen years ago)

funny looking bloke.

pisces, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, wasn't he in Grandaddy? Or didn't he use to make Jewish reggae?

StanM, Thursday, 22 March 2007 12:50 (eighteen years ago)

it's the british "losing my edge"

but i agree w koogs, he contradicts himself

my fave line is about the pedo anyway

cutty, Thursday, 22 March 2007 13:01 (eighteen years ago)

The music's not great but the stuff he says is mostly OTM. Still, only good for two or three listenings at most.

chap, Thursday, 22 March 2007 13:03 (eighteen years ago)

two weeks pass...
worst track ever.

anti-human evil. life denying awfulness.

acrobat, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 23:18 (eighteen years ago)

funny the first time and only time, can't think of a single reason I'd need to hear it twice...

also, grimly otm

fandango, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 23:22 (eighteen years ago)

strangely the most positive response i've seen for it is on COOKD AND BOMBD which says..something.

this however has deflected ANY hate away from it, by being so wretched as to make people want to take their own life :

LDN Is A Victim is _sooooooo_ fucking bad. Like, bad enough to stop "Acceptable In The 80s" being the worst single of the year bad.

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 23:32 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

This is a bad album.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 09:15 (seventeen years ago)

Not in the 1973 blaxploitation sense, I take it.

Dingbod Kesterson, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 09:27 (seventeen years ago)

No, but following on from "Thou Shalt Always Kill"'s list of rules they'd like to see black musicians obey and the one with the beard claiming that Sage Francis was the best rapper of all time, the album also contains some really, really fucking dodgy stuff about Channel U.

Have You Say-core finally becomes a genre.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 09:29 (seventeen years ago)

Oh look, I've just picked it up from the desk next to me. I'm going to guess, having not played it yet and going randomly on the titles, that the Channel U track is.... 'Tommy C'?

DJ Mencap, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 09:41 (seventeen years ago)

what is channel u?

the next grozart, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 09:49 (seventeen years ago)

What they say?

Here's an insightful Guardian blog about him:

Raw Patrick, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 09:50 (seventeen years ago)

Why's Sean Hughes wearing that comedy beard?

Dingbod Kesterson, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 09:52 (seventeen years ago)

'Tommy C' is about a British comedian whose surname isn't Cannon - guess again me. Actually I can't be arsed

DJ Mencap, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 10:41 (seventeen years ago)

I thought he looked more like forgotten 90s comedian Phil Kay.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 10:49 (seventeen years ago)

No, Phil Kay was on Later With Jools last night. He was doing a duet with Alison Krauss.

Dingbod Kesterson, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 10:50 (seventeen years ago)

Heh.

This album is indeed fucking ghastly BTW
