I Do Not Hate This New Album By Blitzen Trapper. thats exactly waht i fell. i mean, it looks like i should have hated them, with all the hype and the production that sounds too much like many of those modern indie bands. but they actually write good songs, behind the mess.

I can't remember how but I came across them on Myspace last year. I don't normally like indie bands but loved the track 'Asleep for Days' as soon as I heard it and it seemed to chime with one of my rare euphoric moods. I bought the 'Field Rexx' album for that one track alone.

Over the course of their four full-length albums to date, including their revelatory 2008 Sub Pop release Furr, Portland, OR's Blitzen Trapper have gained a growing international audience. The band's continuing exploration of American music has earned them notice ranging from Rolling Stone magazine to late-night network television to Yo Gabba Gabba. Destroyer of the Void takes Blitzen Trapper further than ever before, building on the band's seamless marriage of the familiar and the fantastic.
Destroyer of the Void will be released on Sub Pop on June 8, 2010.

Okay I am really liking this new album on first listen, the gorgeous harmonies on "Below the Hurricane" are a standout for me. I hear a little bit of Beachwood Sparks (another band of this ilk I loved) in some of these tunes.

Listening to an NPR set from the Newport Folk Festival right now, some great harmonies. When I'm in the right mood, this band is fantastic.

this new blitzen trapper disc is another item that's just appeared on emusic, and i'm not sure if it's worth the effort. . .

Wild Mountain Nation is still great but the two after are just taking themselves WAY too seriously. Wish they'd have fun again.

ok American Goldwing is super fun, i overlooked this hard due to the relative mediocrity of their other records

Is this the band that had the song about the mom yelling at the kid to help his grandfather with yard work ("he's 77/and you're 11")?
