It might sound fresher to those who weren't listening to UK pop radio in early 1998 and therefore didn't hear it about every five minutes.

"Ethnic"? Because they contain a Sikh guy? I want to do a total Ethnic Routine and NOT include any ethnic material. Eg. - Arab band with name, dress, etc. then perform totally raging Black Metal with no Arabic instruments on, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Jello Biafra's favorite Islamic Speed Metal Band: MAGNUM JIHAD!

your band would still be regarded as 'ethnic' probably brave ulysses! regardless of the musical style - just because of the looks of the lead singer sadly.

when that music video came out, i remember being really shocked - to see some kid with a south asian background on MTV in america. i dunno why i was - i guess i just never see people of my vague "cultural background" on TV very much. why that even matters to me, i'm not so sure.

The song's about Indian cinema. How much ethnicity do you want?

yeah well, "brimful of asha" --> asha bhosle, the famous bollywood background singer. asha is also the sister of the ubiquitous megastar bollywood singer legend lata mangeshkar.
