what are these recordings i have: "summer kick off" and "OP?"

lfam, Thursday, 15 March 2007 19:52 (eighteen years ago)

intraband practice demos, where'd you get them?
don't remeber what "summer kick off" is, but it might be original Sunbomber session, might be a practice
OP is a name given to a number of slightly different demo/edit collections. Some of the OP stuff ended up on Alternation, some on comps, some is slated for future 2X7 release.

all a blur

noizez duk, Thursday, 26 April 2007 23:45 (eighteen years ago)

well, he didn't DJ per se. he played a bunch of tracks on my friend's record player, but he was digging through his crate of good with much aplomb. i remember something by jamal moss in particular.

also yeah, everyone got so fucked up. very blurry fun.

table is the table u live in nyc?

JW, Friday, 27 April 2007 23:04 (eighteen years ago)

one month passes...

so, the new STREAMS live comp is pretty great. i definitely do find premium in its point of view and pith. although they made claims to house music with the self destruction lp, it was bs. but this really has 4/4 beats and arpeggiators and italo/electro sounding sequenced basslines along with the gaslight mindfuck drones and stilted rhythms. also, some killer breakbeat cuts, especially the bomber / the tank, which i either saw live or they've played it more than once. i suspect that this is the best excepter for the unimpaired and impaired alike.

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 02:57 (eighteen years ago)

now i won't feel unsure about deleting (most of) the original STREAMS. thank your acolyte.

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 02:58 (eighteen years ago)

i guess that track isn't really breakbeat but i just mentally throw all non-4/4 electronic stuff into "breakbeat" brane section

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 02:59 (eighteen years ago)

i only edit articles on wikipedia for clarity and sentence construction, not for content.

huh, me, too.

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:00 (eighteen years ago)

also, summer kick off is indeed the sunbomber sessions (or part of them? idk).

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:00 (eighteen years ago)

although they made claims to house music

wha? really? i mean they actually said that?

looking forward to streams because i couldn't really keep up with them after the 5th or 6th one.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:02 (eighteen years ago)

haha, how did i not see this the first time round? NO, that was adderal.

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:03 (eighteen years ago)

it may have just been some disgruntled other music employee:

"First off, Self Destruction is a house record. Perhaps more in spirit than in its realized form, but if that sounds like a joke, stop reading. New Yorks most amorphous five-necked entity (which includes Other Musics own Dan Hougland) have never been strangers to taking the longer, more undulating gravel road, as evidenced by the stretched out subterranean sermons on last years Ka album. On Self Destruction , Excepter crawl out of the cellar and into the warehouse. This is a house record. If Xenakis had made one. It is throbbing mental machine music that (much like the quintets live shows) appears to detour, but often climaxes with the religious fervor of a Wicker Man/Moodymann ritual. Definitely more Black Mahogani than Black Dice. Excepter just traveled all over New Weird America, and torched it in the process. Incendiary." - AK, Other Music.

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:06 (eighteen years ago)

shit got c+p'ed everywhere, though

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:06 (eighteen years ago)

i love that cd but it's not house. i

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:06 (eighteen years ago)

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:11 (eighteen years ago)

latter

noizez duk, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:12 (eighteen years ago)

but really the thing that sets this apart from all their other stuff is the unconflicted exuberance is some of these songs. it's never really come through on record.

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:13 (eighteen years ago)

pleased to make your pseudonym's acquantaince

lfam, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:13 (eighteen years ago)

do you know in august it will have been five years? awww
can celebrate with "op" 2X7" on ideal.

noizez duk, Thursday, 7 June 2007 03:16 (eighteen years ago)

this is house record.

am0n, Thursday, 7 June 2007 04:14 (eighteen years ago)

That Other quote pretty clearly doesn't make any claim that they make actual house music, I mean This is a house record. If Xenakis had made one

And I'll go on record as being the first person to talk that trash anyway, back in the Plant Bar days, the pre-porkchop and zebrablood days.

dan selzer, Thursday, 7 June 2007 04:39 (eighteen years ago)

JW, i do not live in new york. philly sucks enough to make me come up to new york once or twice a month for a few days.

also, i am excited about the exuberance. i've always felt that certain excepter stuff sounds elegiac, in this very twisted, dark way...

zebrablood= great name for band circa two years ago. wasn't dave nuss in a band called angelblood with the ex?
