In hearing Chinga Su Corazon and Road of Knives, Gravitar seem to be everything I liked about Wolf Eyes without being as goddamned boring as some of the later Wolf Eyes.
What I like is the swirling bass, the sharp drumming (with lots of toms), the sort of dissociative vocals... This is what a good Robotussin trip would be like.
, but they don't seem to be able to sustain a great idea (they seem, though this is not an entirely accurate analogy, like a Guided By Voices of psych noise, where they'll have several great ideas that each last 30 seconds). And I enjoyed Beaches and Canyons after being told that it was like this, but it's not, really. None of the other Black Dice stuff I've heard is either (and I haven't really dug very much of it).
So, what Gravitar stuff should I look for next, and what else is there that has a similar weirdness?
