Is there another contender for most impossibly--almost disturbingly--cheerful pop song of all time? I've always loved this song, myself (and not just because of it's excellent placement in the Naked Gun movie).

Any other recommended versions to track down past Herman's Hermits?

the earl-jean original is maybe even better

What is "No Milk Today"?

Another Herman's Hermits song.

an undeniably classic goffin-king number. also, geir OTM about "no milk today." and "a must to avoid" is, ironically, NOT a must to avoid.

Lesley Gore - "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows"

Manically, brassily happy.

another contender: banana splits, "i enjoy being a boy"

One of the ten greatest pop songs ever written. I once soulseeked every version I could find and put it on one CD.

How about "Walking On Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves? And I totally second "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows".

Keeping with the trend, "Steal My Sunshine" by Len always brings me great joy.

for me, "Goodbye, Columbus" by the Association is pure elation

Just going to say that too!

One impossibly manic perspective!

The Langley Schools version is the best thing on that album.

There's always "Wake Up Boo!" by The Boo Radleys

Not sure about that, but it is indeed great.

It's not a happy song, it's about depression.
