marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

I Kill Everything I Fuck - GG Allin & the Murder Junkies

Colonel Poo, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

My daughter Amber's quite keen on the Joanna Newsome album. She's nine now.

And soon will start on Piano lessons.

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

What songs are you listening to that are extremely romantic?

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

Capone N Noreaga - Capone Bone

deej, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

never heard of that one.....

I really love romantic music....that is why I like Kornog..it is very romantic and soft....

and dreamy....lush....

It makes me dream of being in a castle with a romantic prince.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:55 (eighteen years ago)

I like lush rich voices...and silk and velvet.....and very poet lyrics.

and love lush, rich and sensuous music..that makes me feel like I want to be in a castle with a prince.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

Tell me, why do people keep talking about johanna newsome?

so many people are insulting her all over the net about her horrid voice?

people for the most part this she sounds bad.

she is not very popular...or well liked.

Does her voice sound lush, beautiful and romantic?

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

I like Nicolas....he plays for Kornog.

has a great voice and is a very romantic and sensuous man..maybe I should give him another chance..
love his quality music and voice...and gutar playing....

I love beautiful voices and beautiful music....since I am a romantic...

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:01 (eighteen years ago)

Why are so many people here talking to me about a woman who is not well liked by alot of people on the net?

and off?

Johanna Newsome is not well liked by many many many people...

she is the object of ridicule all over the net....people are constantly saying how terrible her voice is.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

Amber likes her music.

So far, that's it.

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

what 's the point of mentioning her name all the time?

all the people on this board is try to stress the fact that people like Johanna newsom who are being ridiculed all over the net and insulted by many people are getting signed and promoted?

What is the point..?
I don't have to insult her...tons of people are doing that all over the internet if you just look .....

there are so many threads of disapproval about her.....

everytime you go on youtube...someone else is there insulting her....so many it is quite sad .....

anyway, I prefer to talk about more uplifting topics....
I love romantic men..and poetry...

and poetic lyrics....did you listen to Kornog?

the subject of Newsome is not a uplifting topic...since she is being mocked all over the net.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

BTW, I have noticed that so many people insult alot of these people in todays world...that I don't have to do it....

there are enough people out there who insult them everyday.....

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:22 (eighteen years ago)

Perhaps if Joanne Newsoms learned to sing properly and cease to resemble a Croatian woodtick in the final stages of balloon gas hypoxia she would be less insulted in favours of her more melodics approach. Writing proper songs would also be a bonus :)

Comstock Carabinieri, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

well, I don't think she is worth discusssing....

I don't have to insult any of these people..or analyze their careers...

so many people are doing that already.

not just her...but alot of others....

why do you think she is worth talking about?

I don't see it?

and why are you off the subject of romance?

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

Joanna Newsom is like a fresh berry in nubile vagina, dripping with the semen of a thousand ghosts. For that, i cannot fault her.

TynanTynan, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:31 (eighteen years ago)

I find this topic to be boring...
and uninteresting..

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:33 (eighteen years ago)

do you have anything interesting to talk about ...I am getting bored.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:33 (eighteen years ago)

This is about romance, not Rangoon massage parlours :)

For true romance in songs it would be hard to surpass the inexpress magic of "I Call Your Hotel" by Phil Colins.

Comstock Carabinieri, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

Is this thread like ILX Trollcon 2007 or something??

Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:37 (eighteen years ago)

Alternate, there is the heartsurrendering pognancy of Peter Gabriels and Kate Bush duo "Don't Live It Up."

Comstock Carabinieri, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)

do you listen to any people outside of the commerial world?

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:44 (eighteen years ago)

The tingling balance between astral dissonance and Rilke-inspired delicacy evident in the closing section of George Crumb's Music For A Summer Evening depicts and delineates the kind of romance at which commercial songwriting can, by definition, merely suggest.

Comstock Carabinieri, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:47 (eighteen years ago)

i need to find some French music again...
some of their music sounds lush, sensuous and romantic...

I have to find some French Artists....

I have liked some of their music in the past...

I just heard some Spanish song on the radio and it sounded romantic....only if they mentioned their names...

I like some oldies too.....in the commerical world and out...
Do you listen to any people from other cultures?

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:47 (eighteen years ago)

BTW...I apologize for all those threads about this man Joachin..I don't actually believe that he has thought about me for six years...

I don't believe he wrote the poetry now.

And I don't believe he is on this board.

I am really sorry for posting all those threads.

It had to be someone else that wrote all that poetry.

I am convinced of that now.

I like Flamenco.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)

You should check out Carla Bruni's work.

Comstock Carabinieri, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

Also Paco Pena, preferably seen and FELT live onstage.

Comstock Carabinieri, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

o.k..thx

I am trying to write a song in French now for the first time in my life...

their language is so beautiful.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:53 (eighteen years ago)

I listened to some French Artists awhile back..should have written down the name.
it was with accordian i think...

I liked the sound..

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

My music has changed since two years ago...I started writing more spanish and french sounding songs...much more meditearrean...I don't know if that is a turn off ?

but I like it. some just alternative...

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

Joachin..yea..I really don't think that he has ever been on this board..and I really don't think he thought about me even six years ago...

how my mind plays tricks on me...

I am such a romantic....I really fantasize about things that are not real...

but my fantasy world is good for writing music...

He never had any interest in me...not at all....

Nicolas might like me...but we will see ....

Nicolas inspires me to write romantic french song..since he is a frenchman with alot of soul.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

Comstock, I admire your taste. For true romance, not the comic picture book stuff, it has to be Physical by Australian chanteuse Oliver Newton-John which neatly finds the link between the carnal and the spiritual through the medium of swimming with dolphins.

Billy Dods, Friday, 30 March 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

Sigh. I miss the times when Marissa was intriguingly semi-plausible. Now it's basically an Onion column.

Erroneous Botch, Friday, 30 March 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

Now it's basically an Onion column.

Doubly so with Comstock in the mix.

Tantrum The Cat, Friday, 30 March 2007 16:48 (eighteen years ago)

Sigh. I miss the times when Marissa was intriguingly semi-plausible. Now it's basically an Onion column.

I think you people are funny.

I want to avoid insulting people on the net.

It is best to just ignore music that I don't prefer.

Not talk about it.
I think I will try to do that from now on..
I see the net ..and realize that is out of control..and many people are insulting many people on the net..sometimes it is for good reason...sometimes not..
I think it sad that too many people are on the net insulting people...
I sort of repent of this..

I noticed some people insulting Barbara Streisand's look on yOutube.
And Greg Lake and the
Band Yes for being old...and fat and I think it is so cruel and repulsive...
I really want to become like this.

Even if someone has no talent or looks...it is wrong to say it in public....

I think so...

I repent...Please forgive me Lord!

The net may keep things forever...but God forgives....

don't you think?

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 17:24 (eighteen years ago)

I really want to become like this.
hahaahah..I MEANT TO SAY THAT I "DON'T' WANT TO BECOME LIKE THIS.

It is best to try to find good things to say about people.....

especially people that I don't know..

even if I do know them...I should say good things...or nothing at all.

I posted two five star reviews and endless compliments to a guy that came over my house who wasn't a nice person at all..

he is a great musician....

so I won't mention his name..cause he is really a mean man who beat up a friends friend on the street...

But I love his music anyway....
I tried to be kind to him....
oh well...it is best to be kind...

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

You people or other people may want to act like the devil and remind me of my past sins....

However, God is my judge and if I want to repent of my sins and be a better person.....

reminding me of my sins ..and insults about people on the net...is only acting like you are God..

The net never forgives and forgets....unless they delete the insults and sins...

But God will forgive..and good people will forgive people for their wrongs.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

the difference between myself and some other people...I can not lie if someone is gifted....

If I don't like someone's attitude and they are a very mean and nasty person....I would still write a 5 star review and endless compliments to a person who is gifted.....

I don't feel vindictive.....

I appreciate their talents and interests in music..

I focus on their talent, not their personal problems....

now alot of people on the net were bashing me and insulting my music cause they don't like my personality....

That is the difference between people like this and myself...

I seperate the two....

I try not to judge people...the musician who beat a friend's friend up on the street and isn't a very nice person...could be nice somewhere deep inside and it is not good to judge..
His music is filled with beauty and passion...and goodness....

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)

Sometimes very gifted people ...in this case with this gifted virtuoso composer and guitarist....

they may seem nasty on the outside or even disturbed....and may beat some people up and become intolerable....

but they express their goodness through their music and through their beautiful music....

Some gifted people may be in pain.....since it is difficult to be an artist in any day and age.

I really believe that this man was disturbed..and it is has something to do with being an artist.....

Artists are disturbed...the world often ...doesn't understand them...

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

Artists can't really speak to therapist about being an artist...since it is such a remote topic to most therapists.

I tried that once..and the man just looked at me and was puzzeled..

When you talk to someone about how difficult it is to be gifted...

and they don't understand what that is like in a text book....

they won't know how to respond..
so therapy was a lost cause for me...

People are gifted....do not feel comfortable under the supervison of a counselor.

Being gifted is something remote to most people.....

Therapists are not trained to understand gifted people..since most therapists are not exceptionally gifted.

to most men...it is a remote...
Since nicolas is a gifted artist...he sort of understood me....
if a person is gifted...even intellectually..they would be more understanding ....
Most people would judge this gifted man ..who beats people up..and is disturbed...but if you are an artist...you understand what being gifted is like in a world like this.

This guitarist ...not nicolas..another guy...is outstanding.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

nicolas is not the guy who beats people up...it is another artist...

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 18:12 (eighteen years ago)

what is an onion column?

The Reverend, Friday, 30 March 2007 20:01 (eighteen years ago)

ahahahahh

well, I guess I am off this board. I am getting a tad bit bored...not much going on here but talking about rehash...and people who seem obsessed with Johanna Newsome.....

So have a fun time ...talking about Johanna Newsome...

I am too bored for words..

I am going to search the net for some very good talent...but thanks for the good leads to some music..
I know some of you tried...

but your obsession with Johanna Newsome is sort getting me to leave.

I think you want me to leave....

It is funny that on other boards people are insulting Johanna newsom alot...but here you are not insulting her at all..

That means that most of the people here are working for the music industry....

that is why I will leave you....have fun...hope you make some money off these acts...

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

Romantic musics that might interest you:

David Sylvian
Tindersticks
Dead Can Dance
This Mortal Coil
Leonard Cohen (too dark?)
Mark Lanegan's mid-to-late 90s stuff
Dusty Springfield - Dusty In Memphis
Roxy Music - Avalon
Lloyd Cole - Don't Get Weird On Me, Babe
Lloyd Cole and the Commotions - Rattlesnakes

Pye Poudre, Friday, 30 March 2007 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

Some of the French art songs that I sing (the ones I studied that I didn't write)
are very romantic...
I really want to record them...
When I studied Bel Canto singing for a great deal of my life...it was a very romantic thing...

I taught voice as well, and this Newsome woman could never learn how to sing well.
I studied voice at one of the premiere music conservatories in the world...
Curtis Institute...
I made money as a professional singer before I actually studied voice.

I was a natural singer.

There are many natural singers out there who enhance their voices from taking lessons and develop them.

I once spoke to Mary Black in person who is an Irish singer..
She is not bad...and had some natural talent. She told me that she never studied voice.
I studied voice because I ended up meeting people from Curtis Institute in Philly when I went to a performing arts school.

I met the right people ....
People who don't know much about singing...maybe impressed with Johanna Newsom and think if she studied voice that she could sing.

But whatever floats your boat man..
I am a person who takes singing very seriously and music...

so maybe I should go to a board where the people have a little more understanding of music?
There was more then one person on this board who seem totally obsessed with Johanna Newsome and they are not searching the net for other talents...sad...very sad...

but I am not going to waste my time talking about rehash..I want to find new and fresh people with talent, that I have never heard before.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 22:47 (eighteen years ago)

Marissa, I think God makes each and everyone one of us special in our own ways, from the baby blues to, believe it or not, our farts. I think there's something to be said in that. This one time, I was walking with my friend Willard P. Riley, who said "I just made the biggest mistake at work today!" and I said "Don't you mean, biggest HITstake?" Because he hit the proverbial nail on the head when he messed up. Why? Because it was part of God's design and God is infallible. Someone said even Jesus goes poop. Uh, no siree Bob (and this person's name was Bob so it made sense to say that. His full name is Bobby Chim, which is neither here nor there, but it is a fun fact nonetheless). Jesus can't go poop because there's no toilet paper in heaven. I read that in the new issue of vogue with Scarlett Jo on the cover (she's a divine peach, no?). Anyway, the point I'm trying to get at is Stephen Malkmus will be remembered as one of the greatest lyricists of our time. Either that, or a fag.

TynanTynan, Friday, 30 March 2007 22:54 (eighteen years ago)

Camille Saint Saens
Poulenc..

these are composers who have written some very romantic and excellent pieces of music for voice...
Bergerettes is a book of French art songs that are really great.

Everyone is special in someway...that is very true...but not in music.
Why does everyone need to make believe they are musician and artist these days to prove they are special?
Not everyone is a singer etc....
everyone wants to be something they are not...
I prefer to talk about exceptionally gifted musicians...

If you people want to talk about people who are special in music..I will go elsewhere.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 23:07 (eighteen years ago)

I want to record Poulenc..yet the piano part is very difficult...
for voice..almost like jazz..

Le Hotel...

Voyage...
wonderful pieces of music...

Poulenc is really exceptional...

Donezetti...very romantic stuff.

marissa, Friday, 30 March 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

Louise Chealde is a romantic composer..from the 1020's..
she is very excellent too.

I was sort of suprised by his call last evening.

O.k M.V you will have to face that I am not very available to go to the judge with you.

I have a life ...

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

Maple syrup is supposed to be on the table before the pancakes.

M.V., Saturday, 31 March 2007 19:52 (eighteen years ago)

But you will never taste my syrup.

He will.
He will enjoy syrup, butter and pancakes.

And orange juice..and green tea.....

He will get it all.

and you will get nothing...

Too late.

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 19:54 (eighteen years ago)

Are you taking any prescription medication?

M.V., Saturday, 31 March 2007 19:59 (eighteen years ago)

No.

I feel great.

I am feeling beautiful today. He makes me feel loved.

He wasn't talking to me for awhile, I thought he was gone forever.
But he is back.

I am waiting for him to come over.

It will be so sweet.
Better then Syrup.

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 20:02 (eighteen years ago)

He doesn't act like he needs meds, since he phones me and talks to me....it is so great to be loved!

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 20:03 (eighteen years ago)

What do you think of Viima and some others that I posted, aren't they FAB?

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

I'm in such a great mood!

Love is in the air!!!!!!!!!

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 20:20 (eighteen years ago)

Have a great day....

His syrup is going to be sweet...baby..............yum!!!!!!!!!!

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

I don't mean that in a tacky sexual way.

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 20:37 (eighteen years ago)

I think this is not a good to post on. I think hardly any women are here. and I posted great female composers and the men here are ignoring my posts and talking about Britney.

Well, at least women will support women who are composers mostly.

We have each other..and I have my beautiful boyfriend who is exceptional and supportive.

It is sad to see so many men talking about Britney when I am talking about female composers ....

And Rain Man...

Don't you people do anything but talk about and worship mainstream media personalities?

I am bored of you..

Thank God my boyfriend is coming over soon.
You people seem so sexist. do you like to insult women with talent, by ignoring them...or mocking them? if you do..that is o.k...I know men who are really cool...and one is coming through for me right now.

He is not sexist.

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

NO one is responding here about independent artists mostly..
That is why I say goodbye to you.

Mark Grout was bringing up only people who are being funded by the media and people with money, and the french guy, and all the people here post only people who are not independent artists.

So I must goodbye to you all, since you have no interest in people who don't have BIG names and you are also quoting Rain Man.

..I don't anything in common with anyone here.

Since I am an independent artist and supportive of independent artist, I would appreciate not being called arrogant because I think people should support indie musicians or people who have their own record label.

You people are media obsessed and popularity oriented.

You don't care about the quality of people's music or voices, you are only interested in popularity..

It is ironic that people here were mocking my singing and saying that a couple notes that were flat are really bothersome, yet no one is insulting Johanna Newsom.

I can't partake in your problems...

I support artists...

I am gone forever.

My boyfriend is a wonderful person who is not very media obsessed.

YOu turn me off.

Thankyou and Goodbye.

I wil not be back ever!

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)

sound of notes being jotted down behind the glass

fife, Saturday, 31 March 2007 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

omg that is sum deep crap haha shes on the chitchnchong lol wat does she expect men and normal people 2 talk about if a artist is good they will get noticed and publicised and bcome apart of that n e way and half the apeal of a artist is how they get there n e way and that then reflects in their music, so watever miss hyper sensitive see ya wudnt want 2 b ya lol :)(i know thats realy childish but im wrekd and it seems funny now lol)

lowrimai, Saturday, 31 March 2007 22:36 (eighteen years ago)

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 22:51 (eighteen years ago)

I really really really love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I long for you!!!!!!!!

I want you soon.

I am insanely in love with you!

this is not a myth. This is just someone I am madly in love with !!!!!

i love you I love you i love you!!!!!!!!!!
I mean it.

I would do anything for you..

Anything. anything that pleases you, almost anything.

I desire you.
I know I could have done better.

My hand trembles at the thought of you. YOur beauty.

I know not of your worth.

I am madly and insanely in love with you, don't believe anything else.
just believe that.

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 22:56 (eighteen years ago)

I really really long for you, and want you soon.

I will surely expire if I dont get to hold you soon in my arms.

I am madly and insanely in love with you.

If there were meds that I could take to not love you anymore, I may take them so I won't have to feel anymore pain.

I am yours.

Forever.

I am your lover.

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 22:59 (eighteen years ago)

Love never dies.

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 23:04 (eighteen years ago)

I am too shy to tell you how I feel openly anymore.

Just know, that I am coward.

I ran away cause I am weak woman, dont' hold it against me.

Your beauty scared me.

I felt that I am not good enough for you ...

somehow..
I put you on a pedistal.

I am afraid that you will crush me permanently.

I am a fragile person.

I have been in an accident..
a long time ago, when i was a child.

my head has never really recovered.
I really don't think that anyone will ever understand.

Yet, I love. and when I do, it is too strong and painful to bear.
sometimes I try to block it out.
Love scares me.

I am too cowardly to admit that I still think you.

I hide..I hide the truth.

I really really really love YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 23:09 (eighteen years ago)

Marissa, did you see that we're doing a sort of small-scale music festival in London? It's some of the musicians that post here and that have contributed to the compilation, playing with their bands. No-one is signed or anything, it's mainly a get-together for the hell of it.

Any words of encouragement?

Mark G, Saturday, 31 March 2007 23:10 (eighteen years ago)

Go for it!
Good luck! Have fun!

marissa, Saturday, 31 March 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks!

You know who I really like, marissa? The Japanese singer/songwriter Shiina Ringo. I am reluctant to bring her up though because she is commercially successful (!) in Japan anyway (and maybe in other parts of Asia--she sure seems to have a lot of Indonesian fans), and I figure that will be a strike against her in your eyes; and because she is not anything close to a technically perfect singer. She's not strictly romantic either, not all the time anyway.

And I'm not going to say any more. It's not nice to imply that nobody here is open to female composer and songwriters or open to obscure acts. You need to dig deeper into the archives here, because it's not all Britney and stuff like that (though, yeah, there is a lot of that, and those are usually the threads where the best writing occurs, even).

I give you. . . Shiina Ringo:

(And I did check your links and they are all very talented, but not really my thing. I might come back to the Chinese classical music some time though, since I'm curious about that in general.)

Oh wait, here's the last one with English sub-titles:
