I don't remember ever knowing that there was an alternate, earlier recording of the song that was the farthest thing from a hit single in 1984. But here's the proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NR5dQZjVPkU

So, the next logical question is "has anyone got this mp3?" Because I want to listen to it about 200 times in a row.

Hee! I love this! It lends a really endearing synth quality to the song and his singing is gorgeous.

Wonderful. An ancient text brought to life!

The early version was a huge hit here in Norway around Christmas 1984. Has never appeared on CD though.

Btw. this video is a very edited version of the video the director had originally planned to make, which was filled with nude and semi-nude women posing around the band members. The band vetoed the nude version and this was what was released as the first video.

Geir, I don't suppose you have that original 7" do you?

Nope. I am very much looking for an mp3 myself too, but as long as the original has never been released on CD, no hope. They could at least have included it as a bonus track on some CD single or "Best Of" collection.

But I guess we will have to wait for the remastered edition of "Hunting High & Low" (which will arrive at some time or other, and will probably also contain "Driftwood" - a great b-side from the "Sun Always Shines On TV" single)
