this is probably a little late for this but looking back a little bit....which one is better?

gman, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 04:21 (eighteen years ago)

I am much more likely to listen to Kish Kash all the way through than Rooty.

Still, I'd probably vote for Rooty.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 04:33 (eighteen years ago)

as a whole I like Kish Kash but "romeo" and "get me off" rank about 1 and 2 of my favorite Basement jaxx.

so 2 votes Rooty

gman, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 04:47 (eighteen years ago)

kish kash.

funny farm, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 04:48 (eighteen years ago)

Rooty. Kish Kash is kinda blaring and manic in a way that's impressive but not totally inviting, whereas Rooty's song qualities feel a bit more ... inhabitable.

nabisco, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 04:51 (eighteen years ago)

Going with Kish Kash; it's more reptile brain and angry.

forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 05:03 (eighteen years ago)

Kish Kash. It has more good songs, and the best of Kish Kash >>>>> the best of Rooty. Kish Kash v Remedy would be harder...

lex pretend, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 05:27 (eighteen years ago)

Kish Kash, fo' sho'. I could never get into Rooty.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 05:52 (eighteen years ago)

I bought Rooty when "Where's Your Head At" hit the radio... and was severely disappointed. Then my English teacher lent me Kish Kash and I was like "omg holy fuck". Then I listened to Rooty again and was like "omg holy fuck" again.

I think I'm going to have to say Kish Kash.

Stevie D, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 06:42 (eighteen years ago)

what nabisco said.

marmotwolof, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 07:13 (eighteen years ago)

this should be a poll

Rooty by a nose

blueski, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 11:07 (eighteen years ago)

Kish Kash by a mile. Rooty is very uneven, Kish Kash is utterly unassailable for the first two thirds.

weird how this thread

is so short

blueski, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 11:34 (eighteen years ago)

"Breakaway" vs "Right Here's The Spot" = FUCK YOU, I WON'T DECIDE

HI DERE, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 12:20 (eighteen years ago)

Oh God, but then there's "Get Me Off" and "I Want U" and "Romeo"...

I LOVE U, BJ

HI DERE, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 12:21 (eighteen years ago)

...and "Where's Your Head At." I'd go with Rooty, although the Siouxsie Sioux cameo on Kish Kash is great.

Rooty and Remedy are the only Jaxx albums I ever listen to all the way through.

chap, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

heart = rooty
head = kish kash

man...tough to come down one way or another.

pisces, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 18:52 (eighteen years ago)

pisces otm

HI DERE, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 20:42 (eighteen years ago)

ROOTY

dmr, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 20:45 (eighteen years ago)

Rooty is the king penguin of all electro brain fucks. Although, i must say Crazy Itch Radio has some cuts...I took both of these albums back. Remedy over all.

TynanTynan, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

kish kash...

CharlieNo4, Thursday, 5 April 2007 00:37 (eighteen years ago)

good luck > rooty > kish kash

maybe

deej, Thursday, 5 April 2007 00:49 (eighteen years ago)

"Rooty" has "Romeo". Nuff said.

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 5 April 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

Is this going to come down to Romeo vs. Good Luck?

If so, Romeo by a hair...

BleepBot, Thursday, 5 April 2007 14:59 (eighteen years ago)

Kish Kash. It has more good songs, and the best of Kish Kash >>>>> the best of Rooty.

-- lex pretend, Wednesday, April 4, 2007 1:27 AM (Yesterday)

lex pretend, Thursday, 5 April 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

That one guy that quit, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

if you like kish kash more you might as well listen to the vines or something

and what, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)

some tracks on it do feature guitar it is true

blueski, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:21 (eighteen years ago)

i think 'lucky star' is the best thing dizzee was involved in.

That one guy that quit, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

basment jaxx are incredible and those two atlantic jaxx compilations are must-own

that song with Phil Linton on Vol. 2 is gorgeous

deej, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:33 (eighteen years ago)

rooty rooty rooty.

most the tracks off kish-kash are good-to-great individually, but the album taken at once is tiring and kind of tiresome. rooty has things that sneak up on you; kish kash you can hear coming blocks away like a marching band.

tipsy mothra, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

I finally got the Jaxx Wild Dub of Ronnie Richards 'Missing You' on Beatport (having previously mistook this for something else) last week. ten years old but still shit hotttt. "RA-RA-RA-RA-RANNY RICHADS"

blueski, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

Ha, I'd have thought of Rooty as the "indie" pick, not just because I picked it but cuz it's a bit more friendly, less aggressively bells-and-whistles, less taxingly wowee-zowee. (Haha and no one who's ever called indie "boring" can argue that the other way round.) E.g., "Hot and Cold" = "Romeo," in lots of ways, and that's like a breather on Kish Kash, versus the single on Rooty.

nabisco, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)

I think the original title of "Hot and Cold" was actually "Like a Yo-Yo (Except Temperature-Wise)."

nabisco, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:55 (eighteen years ago)

i never want to listen to 'Hot And Cold' but i do still listen to 'I Want U'

blueski, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:57 (eighteen years ago)

(I'm actually a little sad that no DDR game yet has featured either "Romeo" or "Hot and Cold" among the tracks, what with both of them sounding like they could practically have been recorded by linking the chord samples to a dance pad and clomping around on it.)

nabisco, Thursday, 5 April 2007 17:03 (eighteen years ago)

rooty is more album-y, somehow.
