junior boys 'like a child' (carl craig) - this one has taken a while to creep up on me but it's SO good. he is the master of dropping the kickdrum in at juuuuust the right moment.
when is that tidwell/pearson thing out?
― haitch, Friday, 1 June 2007 01:01 (eighteen years ago)
Panther - Secret Lawns (Quarterbar Remix) ruuuuules. As opposed to ruuuuling. Or ruuling, which is just silly.
― Tape Store, Friday, 1 June 2007 01:06 (eighteen years ago)
oh and the joakim mix of cut copy's new single is A+++. turns a slightly weak track into a total belter with a great stuttery breakdown.
― haitch, Friday, 1 June 2007 01:13 (eighteen years ago)
the knife, 'marble house' (the emperor machine remix)
oh yes .. thats so on my list for the year ..
― mark e, Friday, 1 June 2007 12:29 (eighteen years ago)
bump-ish
― pisces, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 21:34 (eighteen years ago)
anyone else think the CSS remix of the cribs' "men's needs" was tight? i love that track.
― Sam, Thursday, 16 August 2007 06:26 (eighteen years ago)
The 'Greenlight' club mix is awesome as well.
― Christyles, Thursday, 16 August 2007 12:28 (eighteen years ago)
Margot Meets The Meldoy Maker - Torch (Rainer Weichhold Mix) is still way in front for me. So much momentum in that bassline.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 16 August 2007 12:31 (eighteen years ago)
CANT DECIDE ON #1
Booka Shade vs Plastic Operator - Night Falls, Won't Back Down (white) Something really sublime about combining Booka Shade with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
!!! - Must Be The Moon Emperor Machine Remix (warp) EM takes a song I actively disliked and turned it into a song I love. The bass riff kills.
LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends Harvey Mix (dfa) 7 minutes of intense slo-mo disco.
Another vote for Carl Craig's remix of Junior Boys - Like a Child, it's just so restrained and precise.. almost unbearable.. and then the spectacular release.. very nice!

Mudd- Spielplatz (Quiet Village Remix)
― the table is the table, Thursday, 16 August 2007 17:07 (eighteen years ago)
Beanfield- Tides (Ripperton remix)
Black Devil Disco Club - An Other Skin Days of Backula (Unit 4 Remix) this is very very good too
― The Macallan 18 Year, Thursday, 16 August 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)
doing.

Easy one for me and it's *finally* out:
TEPR - Minuit Jacuzzi (DatA remix)
― Spencer Chow, Thursday, 6 September 2007 01:53 (eighteen years ago)
F most of this S tho. Well maybe Craig's remix of clearly not Faze Action but Junior Boys possibly. What are you gonna say or do against C2 anyway? Nothing that's what.
― blunt, Thursday, 6 September 2007 02:48 (eighteen years ago)
definitely the junior boys rmx if i had to choose between the two.
― tricky, Thursday, 6 September 2007 02:58 (eighteen years ago)
shackleton - blood on my hands (villalobos mix)
― groovemaaan, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:39 (eighteen years ago)
a subtle one that i've been loving all year but have only recently come to realize just how much i cherish it: isolee's beautiful remix of paulo olarte's "solo tu". that said, based on the bits i've heard, i'm still reserving a potential place for the c2 remix of "sound of silver".
― jermainetwo, Thursday, 20 September 2007 03:54 (eighteen years ago)
Boys Noize remix of Feist's My Moon My Man off the Kitsune 4 Compilation. Quite surprised no one has mentioned it.
― Anthony Walsh, Thursday, 20 September 2007 23:36 (eighteen years ago)
still the mungolian jetset remix of ost & kjex for me

Chromeo’s Bonafied Lovin remixed by Eli. I think I swiped it from the Turntable Lab blog.
― Mr. Goodman, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:07 (eighteen years ago)
Loving Hand remix of Lonely Hearts. More Goldsworthy, erm, gold.

Van She remix of Feist's '1234' is my current favourite
― blueski, Friday, 21 September 2007 11:08 (eighteen years ago)
Argh I hate that Van She remix, there's the glimmer of something really magical there, especially in the early stages and then they just obliterate it with all those heavy-handed rocky synth noises.
Jacques Lu Cont really needs to remix 1234 along the same lines but without fucking it up.
― Matt DC, Friday, 21 September 2007 11:38 (eighteen years ago)
must be a different Van She remix
― blueski, Friday, 21 September 2007 11:40 (eighteen years ago)
Actually maybe I mean Alan Braxe, not JLC. Either way, someone who could add big warm pads and make it soar rather than sound like they're trying to beat it to death.
― Matt DC, Friday, 21 September 2007 11:53 (eighteen years ago)
add the postal service remix of mushaboom to make a trio of good feist remixes
― NI, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:03 (eighteen years ago)
that is not what is happening (xp)
― blueski, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:03 (eighteen years ago)
van she of 1234 is my fav of the year too. matt -> you so crazy.
gotta say though, on the whole, it doesn't seem like it's been that great a year for rmxrs
― ^@^, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:05 (eighteen years ago)
i wish rex would come back with some good ones, his new ep is disappointing.
― NI, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:29 (eighteen years ago)
have there been any good Phones ones lately or did they burn themselves out a year ago?
― blueski, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:30 (eighteen years ago)
his interpol one is a big clanging mess. i think i only liked his shaznay one though.
― NI, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:31 (eighteen years ago)
JLC is doing a rex too, no sign of any remixes from him for ages now. are they saving that twinkly fairydust sound for xmas?
― NI, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:32 (eighteen years ago)
oh, the 2nd half of tiga's remix of 'ice cream' is pretty good providing you're not mighty sick of that song yet, does a nice soaring booming thing
― NI, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:33 (eighteen years ago)
not sure how ilm takes either act but i adore the very new remix of 'bonafide lovin' by the teenagers (only on their myspace at the mo). in fact i like all teenagers remix - but can't stand any teenagers originals. except frankie lymons lollers
― NI, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:35 (eighteen years ago)
nothing this year so far to even touch DFA's MY LOVE by Justin Timberlake, but the Klaxons/Soulwax remix is still fantastic.
― pisces, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:44 (eighteen years ago)
Lots of things I've not heard here ... sounds good.
― Jamie T Smith, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:57 (eighteen years ago)
theres only 2 good mins in that dfa remix of my love! and 8 boring minutes of digital thunderstorm sound fx
― NI, Friday, 21 September 2007 14:00 (eighteen years ago)
but god DAMN those 2 minutes.
― pisces, Friday, 21 September 2007 14:06 (eighteen years ago)
agreed
― NI, Friday, 21 September 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)
nah, Matt DCOTM. though I should go back to it, I liked the Boyz Noise remix of My Moon My Man until the radio hammered it into overfamiliarity (floating from the next cubicle over, twice a day). Chromeo remix of Sea Lion Woman underwhelmingly polite.
to the 2004 thread with such talk!
Circulate is great, just nowhere near as great as his other singles. Italian Blonde is definitely the most just-a-b-side he's done. disappointed that he's apparently including some of his old remixes on the album; the singles have all been so good at being a discrete artistic package that I hoped that if he had to make an album* it would be a whole well-thought unit too. seems it'll be a My Progress So Far sampler instead, boo.
*told him once I just wanted him to keep making singles have to check out the Teenagers myspace, I was hoping for awesome mixes of Bonafide Lovin but the Eli one is a bit generic fake b-more beatwise.
― energy flash gordon, Saturday, 22 September 2007 03:31 (eighteen years ago)
until the radio hammered it into overfamiliarity --
what radio station's this?? no snark.

FBi in Sydney: http://www.fbi.org.au/content.php/753.html
xpost: ^^hmm. first 30 seconds were exciting but it's fairly bloghouse once the song starts. it's weird, on the first Chromeo, the remixes and the live show outshone the album by miles, but the new one seems to be proving too great to withstand remixing.
should be seeing them in teh England next month though, if they can pwn the record with fun-rays again then three thumbs up
― energy flash gordon, Saturday, 22 September 2007 03:43 (eighteen years ago)
Agreed. Thanks to this I've reached the point where everytime I see something new with the name Pantha Du Prince attatched to it, I get really giddy and tingly all over.
― mehlt, Saturday, 22 September 2007 04:02 (eighteen years ago)
TEPR - Minuit Jacuzzi (DatA remix) ^ is very nice
― bnw, Saturday, 22 September 2007 04:25 (eighteen years ago)
There a mix of "Groove Is In the Heart" called "Groove Is In the Remix". I have no idea who it's by but it's SO GOOD.
― musically, Sunday, 23 September 2007 19:41 (eighteen years ago)
It came out in March, but I would add: Audion - Mouth To Mouth (Heartthrob's Hot Breath Treatment). I cannot get enough Heartthrob remixes.

Phones did a remix for the last jacknife lee single 'making me money'. not bad, but not that great either. (ie fairly typical fucked up current styled indie/rock/dance. also, i have just realised i have a pilooski edit of a coldplay, sorry, stateless track - so off to see what thats like now ..

two great ones I'd forgotten about, both of badly drawn boy's "promises". the original song, i'd guess, is probably not great, but the remixes!
reverso 68: sleek, immaculate, sweeping
