IME the Mersey madmen win, provided 'every other garage band' doesn't include the Brainbombs and the Dwarves. Maybe not including the White Stripes either, although DEFINITELY including the execrable Hives, and sadly including the Cramps, who lose points for inspiring the most pointless cul-de-sac of a subculture ever, all of whose followers seem to think that Bryan Gregory(the Cramps' redeeming feature)'s influence can be overlooked while doing 'wild'n'crazy' covers that end up being tame compared to the originals

I saw the Walking Seeds play live a few times in the late 80s (usually at a club in Liverpool called Planet X). I enjoyed their gigs but I never bought any of their records. I have got a track by their previous incarnation the Melotones. It's a very psychedelic song called "I Walked With A Bugs Bunny Bendy Toy".

I'm not really a fan of Post-"Nuggets" garage bands.

I know this is just a question of taste, but I fail to see why so many people dislike the Hives. Any day a record shows up with that many catchy tunes and that much enthusiasm, I'm grateful.

four months pass...
Walking Seeds best garage rock band ever...yes. (I recently saw 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster who were great & first band to remind me of the 'Seeds in years).
They were a surly buncha buggers though. Visitors to Probe Records in Liverpool may still be greeted with the inimitable customer service of Bob Parker.
Best record was 'Upwind of Disaster, Downwind of Atonement' I reckon (UOD - DOA - nasty!).

Best ever? Maybe not. Excellent and vastly underrated? You betcha! DOes anybody know what became of the members of Walking Seeds?

Well, as was mentioned, one of them works in (owns?) Probe Records, a fine - the finest - record shop in Liverpool...

There's no CDDB information for nuggets. that is SO disappointing :(
