So who is it? Hardly the capital of popular music, Danmark, but, there have been some name with some kind of international recognition at least.
I have to admit I am still not too familiar with the metal scene, so no metal names here other than 80s hair metal band Pretty Maids (obviously, Metallica aren't a Danish band)

BIKSTOK

blueski, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 09:31 (eighteen years ago)

Under Byen, Efterklang, Tim Christensen, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Tina Dickow (Dico), Swan Lee all worthy of mention surely.

cheasyweasel, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 11:20 (eighteen years ago)

Aqua all the way baby!

kv_nol, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 11:21 (eighteen years ago)

Marty Innerlogic, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 11:32 (eighteen years ago)

tys tys?

m the g, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 11:42 (eighteen years ago)

Where are Junior Senior and Mew?

zeus, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 14:37 (eighteen years ago)

Also: the Raveonettes, Infernal, the Superheroes - missing too. Not a good job, Geir.

zeus, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 14:40 (eighteen years ago)

Man, can't believe I also forgot Junior Senior (last album still not released in the UK), Mew and The Raveonettes. Especially if Geir's only considering bands with some international profile.

Another one - The Figurines.

cheasyweasel, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 15:53 (eighteen years ago)

geir, you may as well scrap this poll thread and do it again properly by inserting these:

Mew, Saturnus, Manual, Moi Caprice, Efterklang, Trentemøller, Under Byen, Junior Senior, the Raveonettes

djmartian, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

geir were you still half asleep when you started this poll thread?

djmartian, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 16:02 (eighteen years ago)

Mew are highest profile danish rock band of the decade - so how did geir forget?

djmartian, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

are you sure?! I'm non-danish and I've never heard of mew. but I do know under byen, tys tys, tina dickow, efterklang, junior senior, DAD, the raveonettes, etc...

m the g, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)

geir, you may as well scrap this poll thread and do it again properly by inserting these

scrapping 'best artist from X country' polls altogether gets my vote

(i like polls generally tho)

blueski, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 16:50 (eighteen years ago)

Uh...Mercyful Fate?! Surely the biggest rock export from Denmark.
What's next, the Faroe Islands? I vote for Tyr.

Matt #2, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

eivor palsdottir...

m the g, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 17:43 (eighteen years ago)

These polls will never be complete anyway, or they would have to contain thousands of names.

I agree Mew and Raveonettes are international enough that they should have been there though (and I believe I included the latter in the first version that was refused because I set the deadline in April 2006 rather than 2007)

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

(bump)

Geir Hongro, Friday, 13 April 2007 00:26 (eighteen years ago)

Whigfield's got my vote.

sonderangerbot, Friday, 13 April 2007 01:38 (eighteen years ago)

That's quite a crappy list by the way. I'm not sure even Mew could save it...

sonderangerbot, Friday, 13 April 2007 01:42 (eighteen years ago)

Wow, too many to choose. But I'd say it's either Aqua or Toy-Box. :D

Mitch, Friday, 13 April 2007 07:46 (eighteen years ago)

I don't consider it too many to choose from. Danish music is highly top-rate. But at least there's Gangway and Saybia :)

Geir Hongro, Friday, 13 April 2007 10:21 (eighteen years ago)

And Savage Rose too

Geir Hongro, Friday, 13 April 2007 10:21 (eighteen years ago)

Other than Gangway at a shared #2 (I expected my vote to be the only one) this is a depressing list. Oh well...
