... can't be arsed looking for old "forthcoming gigs" threads... for any improvheads out there, this looks innaresting:

Alan Wilkinson/Joe Williamson/Eddie Prevost + Alan Tomlinson + Henry Lowther/John Russell

Sun Apr 15 Red Rose Club, 129 Seven Sisters Rd, N7 7QG (£3/£5)

... haven't been to the Red Rose in absolute yonks

Tom D., Tuesday, 10 April 2007 13:31 (eighteen years ago)

I've never been to the red rose, you know...you def going Tom/D*D*? :-)

Another good one might be, for classical (haw haw) fans, Finnissy at Handel House - thur 19th April. Not sure I'll go but I'll keep that in mind:

I went a few weeks ago. There may have been an apmlified plant at one point.

gnarly sceptre, Wednesday, 11 April 2007 10:19 (eighteen years ago)

It'd be nice to see an after-gig thread too.

gnarly sceptre, Wednesday, 11 April 2007 10:20 (eighteen years ago)

OK, I was there but, as usual, hardly anybody else was! So the Alan Wilkinson/Joe Williamson/Eddie Prevost thing was, frankly, jazz (who'd have thunk it?), and was very good, i love Eddie's dinky IKEA drumkit. Alan Tomlinson did what he did (if you've seen him before). And Henry Lowther + John Russell, to start off with, didn't seem as if it would work but did eventually, tho they didn't play for long enough.

Tom D., Tuesday, 17 April 2007 10:47 (eighteen years ago)

I totally missed Cluster in Camden...... Regret!!! It was Sunday and I was knackered, and I seem to have run into a lazy/apathetic slump with gigs recently. Was anyone else there?

gnarly sceptre, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

Oh man, I forgot all about it!!!!!!

Tom D., Tuesday, 17 April 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)

Is it worth paying £40 to see Devo in 2007? It's their first European tour in 15 years.

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 19 April 2007 11:54 (eighteen years ago)

I have just bought tickets for the Brighton show, so I hope so.

aldo, Thursday, 19 April 2007 14:47 (eighteen years ago)

It's at the bleedin' Shepherds Bush Empire though, I dunno if I can bring myself to pay £40 to go to that shithole.

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 19 April 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

what about DEVO 2.0???

also, camden crawl tonight, woo eep.

CharlieNo4, Thursday, 19 April 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

There's a DEVO show at the RFH as well, which may be a bit more palatable (but is far too clinical a room for DEVO).

aldo, Friday, 20 April 2007 09:01 (eighteen years ago)

Too clinical, true, and I dislike seated venues, but I've gone for it :) I've been to gigs at RFH before, it's OK, whereas Shepherds Bush Empire in June is pretty much unbearable. I have irrational hatred towards that venue though.

Colonel Poo, Friday, 20 April 2007 15:48 (eighteen years ago)

There is a website named Myspace.com i believe ;)

Ooh yeah that reminds me - does Sonic Cathedral usually require tickets in advance? I'm supposed to be going to see Asteroid #4 there next month.

Colonel Poo, Friday, 20 April 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

Nah, I've never had a problem getting in, they usually hold some tickets back so long as you get there on time.

But that could be a perk of being a regular. ;-)

Masonic Boom, Friday, 20 April 2007 16:17 (eighteen years ago)

Oops I just reposted that on the Watercooler thread! I'm so impatient. Thanks. I figured it'd be OK. Was hoping to avoid buying tickets just in case I don't end up going.

Colonel Poo, Friday, 20 April 2007 16:19 (eighteen years ago)

ALL LONDON THREADS ARE ONE THREAD NOW!!!

Masonic Boom, Friday, 20 April 2007 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

In my current addled state it's probably best I stick to one thread from now on... although it is TIME TO GO HOME WOO YEAH!

Colonel Poo, Friday, 20 April 2007 16:22 (eighteen years ago)

Sonic Cathedrals has more gigs coming up than I can keep track of!

These three:

two weeks pass...
Bizarre venue...

GURU GURU at London Museum of Garden History on Wed 19th Sep, 2007 £15.00

... plus would anyone pay £15 to see Guru Guru?

Tom D., Tuesday, 8 May 2007 09:20 (eighteen years ago)

I've only caught a couple of 'old' band shows, but that's one I'd consider. It'd be cool if this was taking place in an actual garden. Like, in one of the conservatories in Kew Gardens. Rock! And Mist!

Also Tony Conrad, Ghost, Maher Shalal & KTL coming soon...

gnarly sceptre, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

I've actually been in the London Museum of Garden History (don't ask) and I can't really see it working as a music venue

Tom D., Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

I'm wondering where on earth they would play! I suppose in that converted church bit. I could drop in on my mum's new best friend, the Archbishop...

But wait, no. I'm really here to try and drum up support and get people to go to that Early Years/Kontakte gig. Come on! They're both really fantastic. Oh yes, and naked Norwegians. (I cannot guarantee that they will be naked, though.)

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)

Just seen this:

Looks good to waste a pleasant hour or so - its also free

xyzzzz__, Friday, 11 May 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

Otomo Yoshihide is doing a three day residency at Cafe Oto starting tonight, but I think I'll check out tomorrow's show with Christian Marclay. No idea what Marclay's been up to lately. Is it too much to ask for a live rendition of the Guitar Drag piece?

Also, impending Sublime Frequencies tour!

edible wife (gnarly sceptre), Monday, 9 March 2009 16:15 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, will probably go and see Group Doueh et al when they play in Brighton. Don't think we're getting the Alan Bishop bit here.

Dom Cry For Me, Passantino (NickB), Monday, 9 March 2009 16:38 (sixteen years ago)

Hadn't realised either of the Bishops would be in attendance. Perhaps only djing anyway? Be great to see him involved in any capacity.

edible wife (gnarly sceptre), Monday, 9 March 2009 16:58 (sixteen years ago)

AB is djing with other SF folk, but I think they were also going to do separate dates with lectures and film screenings. There was stuff about it in the Wire that I didn't really take in.

Dom Cry For Me, Passantino (NickB), Monday, 9 March 2009 17:04 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, here you go:

Sublime Frequencies
