What city in your opinion has the best music scene right now and why? Ideally you could name bands/labels/Dj's/scenes that would make you want to live there(if you don't already)for the music scene alone. A place where you can catch dope acts or see great Dj's pretty much any night of the week. Places where diversity is the key, not necessarily a city that is dominated by a load of stuff that is great in the same vein, but that caters to heads with a wide array of tastes.

Pretty much no contest - Chicago Illinois USA - we've got it all here - great fests, great beats/hiphop/r&b, great pop/indiepop, great metal/postrock/hardrock, great venues (though it seems one good one closes each year, frown) - just a great scene in general - come visit - you'll like it! Like BIP there, I've found Chicago people to often be up in your face about how great their city is. It can be a bit annoying.

Too much mold there though. I need to find a place with less mold.

Nashville. The whole city is a music theme park, all that's missing are giant Dolly Parton tits that would welcome you to Davidson County, like a gateway of sorts.

i'm from chicago and i think its a great city but its music scene is pretty middling at the moment, compared to some. It has a strong musical legacy tho - i'd put its past 30 years (or, for that matter, 60 years) up against most cities, but as of '07 .... :-/

deej, Wednesday, 11 April 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)
