Assuming the band has seen the "more cowbell" sketch, do they love it?

considering they sell t-shirts that say "more cowbell" at their shows, I'm guessing yes.

you can accuse boc of a lot of things but lacking a sense of humor is not one of them

Edward III, Thursday, 12 April 2007 17:37 (nineteen years ago)

They like it. As a BOC fan, my opinion is that the sketch is funny, but the people who bring up "More Cowbell" any time the band is mentioned anywhere are going straight to hell.

It was funny at the time, but these days more cowbell is less cowbell.

was anybody else bothered by the fact that the Buck Dharma character was constantly referred to as "Eric" in that skit?

henry s, Thursday, 12 April 2007 19:48 (nineteen years ago)

Yes. And Ferrell had Bloom-esque facial hair. They nailed Joe Bouchard though.

in austin tx, we ended up at some bar with a horrible frat-type cover band was playing...they actually sort of recreated the sketch onstage by starting the riff and then stopping, the lead singer would say "no man...i need more cowbell"...they even referred to "don't fear the reaper" as "more cowbell"...it hurt my heart.

They should be in the place adjacent to the place Freedy Johnston says is waiting for those who shout out random requests for "Free Bird" at concerts.

Jon Wurster in the Onion A.V. Club this week:

Blue Öyster Cult, "E.T.I."

JW: One of my favorite bands, featuring the great chorus, "All praise / He's found the awful truth / Balthazar." I met the drummer; he came through Chapel Hill with his band The Brain Surgeons a couple years ago. I got him to sign a big cowbell for my friend who was getting married, because he played the cowbell on "Don't Fear The Reaper," like the SNL sketch. I was really nervous about it, because I didn't know if it was a sticking point with him. I even had a nightmare about it a couple of days before the show, but he was super-cool.

When I saw them live, they made a more cowbell joke on stage.

i swear to god, at the open mic night at one of the local pubs i frequent some drunken douchebag shouts this out almost every time there's a break in between songs.

WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?

eighteen years pass...

the legacy of this sketch has kind of ruined the humor in it.

like bring up Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson and someone eavesdropping who knows not of those Gods yells "I GOT A FEVER, AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION IS!"

bring up BOC and someone eavesdropping yells MORE COWBELL

solution is to BAN EAVESDROPPING
