80 Minute CD: Sun City Girls

I'm trying to put together an 80 minute CD of Sun City Girls tracks for a couple of my friends to try to get them introduced to the band. What would be the essential tracks to put on it?

So far I have:

- Dreamland
- X+Y=Fuck You
- The Shining Path
- (possibly) Nancy Reagan
- (possibly) Borungku Si Derita

Anyway...what else should I add? I want to try to get the range of their sounds on here as much as possible.

Also, this will probably help me out as well because I'm not too well versed in a lot of their middle-later period material.

I was just thinking of doing this myself! a seemingly impossible task. I've been going through and relistening to everything they ever did since Charlie died.

I would have to try to shoehorn in addition to what you already have (definitely "X+Y=Fuck you")

Space Prophet Dogon
Opium Den
Nibiru
Cooking With Satan
Kill the Klansmen
Soft Fragile Eggshell Minds
Alone Again Or
Abydos
Wuthering Corpse
The Space Genie Hiss
"Palmer"

Ruby on the Ferris Wheel
Radio Morocco

I think Space Prophet Dogon will always be THE Sun City Girls song.

What Mr Selzer says re: Space Prophet Dogon is so very true.

I did a c90 for some folk a good few years ago which I think covered a good variety of material in the alloted time, given the ridiculousness of the task, but I have no track listing handy, and a great amount has surfaced since then (this was pre CFR). I'll probably come back to this tomorrow, but right now i would say these are important / faves (aside from what's already been mentioned):

Helwa Shak
Circus Haddam
Different Kind of Whore
Amazon One
The Venerable Song
Radar 1941
The Flower
Blue Mambo
Immortal Gods
Jessop's Diary
Napoleon & Josephine
Cruel & Thin
Sikya Boyah
Gravelhead

There's way too much and plenty that could sound great in excerpt form. I could go on, but I won't right now.

I second "cruel and thin", "rookoobay", and "the flower". You probably already have more than enough to work with. Best band of the last 25 years, imho.
