Rock and Roll Over - not a single song on it that I don't enjoy and the only album in the entire Kiss catalog that I can say that about.

darin, Friday, 13 April 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

Destroyer narrowly beats the eponymous debut thanks to "God Of Thunder."

NYCNative, Friday, 13 April 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT!

Jeff Treppel, Friday, 13 April 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)

Only know the first half-dozen or so, but still Hotter Than Hell

Myonga Vön Bontee, Friday, 13 April 2007 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

"The Elder" all the way. :)

Geir Hongro, Friday, 13 April 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

Whichever the disco one was. That one.

Bill Magill, Friday, 13 April 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

Rock & Roll Over, barely edging out the s/t.

A. Begrand, Friday, 13 April 2007 21:31 (eighteen years ago)

Dynasty was the Disco one.

NYCNative, Friday, 13 April 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

Fucks sake, I agree with Geir! Or was he joking? I'm not. Music From The Elder it is! I'm still waiting for Part 2.

Matt #2, Friday, 13 April 2007 22:26 (eighteen years ago)

Not joking: http://rateyourmusic.com/list/GeirH/my_top_50_albums_of_1981

Geir Hongro, Friday, 13 April 2007 22:28 (eighteen years ago)

Kiss. No fucking contest.

xhuxk, Friday, 13 April 2007 23:41 (eighteen years ago)

What do you think of Dynasty, xhuxk? I always assumed that this would be something you liked - buying into the disco metal stereotypes of the album and your taste. I don't have STHHTH handy but I know that some of your views have changed since then anyway...

NYCNative, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

I'm still waiting for Part 2.

I'm afraid you'll have to wait for quite some time, considering

1. They broke up in 1998
2. They hate "The Elder", and their fans hate it too

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 11:22 (eighteen years ago)

if ever a best-of thread needed the live albums to be included then it's this one. alive and alive II shit all over the studio albums.

(and alive II has the best gatefold of all time.)

but given their non-appearance, destroyer it is.

geir, kiss are still extant.

What do you think of Dynasty, xhuxk?

Haven't heard this in forever. But you have a good point; I'll be on the lookout for a copy (for $1 or less).

xhuxk, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 11:48 (eighteen years ago)

I do think "I Was Made For Lovin' You" is great, fwiw.

xhuxk, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 11:50 (eighteen years ago)

When the Best AC/DC albums poll is done will live albums be included?

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 13:13 (eighteen years ago)

No Peter Criss no credibility :(

Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 15:32 (eighteen years ago)

Dressed to Kill rocks

outdoor_miner, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

I voted for the winner. Which I did for Black Sabbath but not for Motorhead.

NYCNative, Thursday, 19 April 2007 23:28 (eighteen years ago)

How did The Elder score higher than Creatures of the Night or Love Gun?!

Jeff Treppel, Thursday, 19 April 2007 23:29 (eighteen years ago)

Because it's better! That's why.

Matt #2, Thursday, 19 April 2007 23:58 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not really familiar with most of Kiss at all. Did anyone vote for the post make up albums?

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Friday, 20 April 2007 00:00 (eighteen years ago)

Lick It up and Crazy Nights were both post-makeup. I'm also confused as to how Crazy Nights got two votes.

Are you kidding me? Any individual single off of Creatures of the Night and Love Gun was better then the entirety of The Elder.

Jeff Treppel, Friday, 20 April 2007 00:07 (eighteen years ago)

Those Crazy Night votes are mental.

darin, Friday, 20 April 2007 00:09 (eighteen years ago)

Jeff, you're forgetting The Oath. Also, Escape From The Island.

Matt #2, Friday, 20 April 2007 00:10 (eighteen years ago)

By any chance is "crazy crazy nights" off that? That was a massive hit here in the UK when I was a kid. Was the 1st song I ever heard by them.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Friday, 20 April 2007 00:11 (eighteen years ago)

Coincidentally, it was. So we have the Brits to blame for those votes? I knew it!

Come on. You're telling me those are better than "Love Gun," "Creatures of the Night," "I Love It Loud," or "War Machine?"

Jeff Treppel, Friday, 20 April 2007 00:17 (eighteen years ago)

My favorite ILX post re: The Elder

The only thing I like about this album is the mental image of Paul Stanley singing "Only A Boy" in a soundbooth with blood trickling out of both nostrils. That, and the idea of pussyhounds catering to the D&D audience.

It's just my theory. People who don't know Kiss know that song. It really was huge airplay wise.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Friday, 20 April 2007 00:18 (eighteen years ago)

In Europe?

We all know [i}Alive[/i] is the true victor, here.

And clearly, all pre-Dynasty >>> post-Dynasty.

Dougie Chimes, Friday, 20 April 2007 00:25 (eighteen years ago)
