― marmotwolof, Sunday, 12 August 2007 21:07 (seventeen years ago)
You know, it's a lot more fun having one Now poll a week or every few days rather than three or four all started at once...
― Matt DC, Monday, 20 August 2007 11:26 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah tbh it is getting beyond ridic at this point.
― Trayce, Monday, 20 August 2007 11:28 (seventeen years ago)
(I am pro-Now polls incidentally but I'd rather have the back and forth of arguing over one in detail than spreading the same group of posters over four threads at once).
― Matt DC, Monday, 20 August 2007 11:30 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, if they keep up at this rate, there won't be any more crappy corporate compilations or ass-backward "worst-of" lists to poll motherfuckers about.
― kingkongvsgodzilla, Monday, 20 August 2007 11:30 (seventeen years ago)
i don't want to hide polls coz some of them are good, but fucksake geir stop spamming.
― That one guy that hit it and quit it, Monday, 20 August 2007 11:36 (seventeen years ago)
bump
ILM has been taken over by polls. i like polls, so i don't want to turn off that preference. just asking if we can slow it down as there are way too many polls at the moment.
― Bee OK, Thursday, 4 October 2007 01:27 (seventeen years ago)
just checked out the 'hide polls' option. pretty good!
― haitch, Thursday, 4 October 2007 01:49 (seventeen years ago)
it'd be good if you could keep polls on ILE but hide them on ILX, the polls over there are usually better.
― haitch, Thursday, 4 October 2007 01:51 (seventeen years ago)
uh

I didn't know about that "hide polls" option. Niiiice!
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 October 2007 05:08 (seventeen years ago)
sorry, "keep polls on ILE but hide them on ILM". oops.
― haitch, Thursday, 4 October 2007 06:55 (seventeen years ago)
Slow the fuck down people, I'm sure you can wait a week to find the best band from Chipping Sodbury.
― Matt DC, Friday, 1 February 2008 12:32 (seventeen years ago)
They forgot "The Rotorvators" AND "Emil and the Detectives" !!!
― Mark G, Friday, 1 February 2008 12:34 (seventeen years ago)
This is 2008, not 1908, keep up grandad!
― Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 1 February 2008 12:52 (seventeen years ago)
i guess the only interesting thing about the regions polls is how you get one and then several people decide to start their own in response, as if it would never have occurred to anyone otherwise or happened any other way. just mad flurries rather than a spaced out but more consistent stream. happens with a lot of things on ILX tho, not just polls.
― blueski, Friday, 1 February 2008 12:56 (seventeen years ago)
You've got to have all the regional heats though before you move into the national finals. Followed by the champions league and world club championships. If I were you I'd get your bets in now for Tiger from Princes Risborough to go all the way.
― NickB, Friday, 1 February 2008 13:03 (seventeen years ago)
I hope that when we eventually get to Best Of London we have the nous to do it by postcode.
― Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 1 February 2008 13:10 (seventeen years ago)
never heard of London. is it near Wales?
― Thomas, Friday, 1 February 2008 13:15 (seventeen years ago)
I was thinking the best way to do London would be five polls: North, South, East, West, Home Counties. Really can't be arsed to do it myself though.
― chap, Friday, 1 February 2008 15:38 (seventeen years ago)
I realise proposing five polls isn't really in the spirit of this thread.
― chap, Friday, 1 February 2008 15:40 (seventeen years ago)
there aren't any bands from London
― blueski, Friday, 1 February 2008 15:48 (seventeen years ago)
London Beat vs. London Boys
― NickB, Friday, 1 February 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)
Having to include 200 minor league grime MCs and hardcore/dnb outfits would make the East London poll a bit of a schlep.
― Matt DC, Friday, 1 February 2008 15:58 (seventeen years ago)
Globe Town Brrrap Mans FTW

― scott seward, Monday, 5 October 2009 17:26 (fifteen years ago)
There is the "Hide Polls" option in Preferences.
― kingkongvsgodzilla, Monday, 5 October 2009 17:33 (fifteen years ago)
is there a "Hide Polls about Rate Your Music" option?
― yellow card for favre (call all destroyer), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:42 (fifteen years ago)
yeah, i only want to hide the stupid polls
― somewhere a poll is missing its wacky write-in vote (sarahel), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:42 (fifteen years ago)
tell me ilx is at least getting $$ from that website for this
― autogoon delight (J0rdan S.), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:46 (fifteen years ago)
dear polls,
go away for awhile, take an ilx break. come back in 2010, and i'll see you in the new year,
Q
― Mr. Que, Monday, 5 October 2009 21:48 (fifteen years ago)
no, it's just a couple of people being spammy and stupid
Please note that these polls are getting dropped off of new answers and to those starting them, if you continue to create more of them you will be first yellowcarded and then temp-banned for spamming. It would likely not be that big of a deal had we not had what seems like a bazillion threads all at once.
― The Book of Outhere (HI DERE), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:49 (fifteen years ago)
dear Q,
have you eaten pizza recently? i would just like to politely remind you that pizza is a delicious food product.
sincerely,
pizza
― somewhere a poll is missing its wacky write-in vote (sarahel), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:49 (fifteen years ago)
how about the overlords at least enforce some sort of start no more than five threads a day kinda thing. hell, i'm a drunk, and even i could live with that. they used to delete threads if people started too many way back when.
― scott seward, Monday, 5 October 2009 21:50 (fifteen years ago)
oh okay x-post
how about I Love WWE becomes I Love Rate Your Music
i mean, how would this not appease everyone? i could turn off the answers from this board so my site new answers would be flushed of this shit & the rate your music brigade will have their own little playground that no one can complain about
― autogoon delight (J0rdan S.), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:52 (fifteen years ago)
lol good idea but i sort of don't want to validate that anyone can learn anything from fuckin rate your music.
― yellow card for favre (call all destroyer), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:53 (fifteen years ago)
just put them here http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/NewAnswersControllerServlet?boardid=78
― carne asada, Monday, 5 October 2009 21:54 (fifteen years ago)
xp - though they'd probably start a bunch of these polls on ILM so that more people would vote; it's like the sex threads on ILE vs. ILTMI problem
― somewhere a poll is missing its wacky write-in vote (sarahel), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:55 (fifteen years ago)
can i just....
if we take the "your music" to mean, "your collection of music that you chose to have" WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO RATE IT? PRESUMABLY YOU LIKE IT ENOUGH TO HAVE IT.
sry had to get that out.
― yellow card for favre (call all destroyer), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:55 (fifteen years ago)
thank you for saying that
somewhere in britain, a scarfed northampton town fan of italian descent suffers a coronary
― kell surprise (country matters), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:56 (fifteen years ago)
this is like if fdr had the chance to launch all the nazis to another planet, a golden opportunity here imo
― autogoon delight (J0rdan S.), Monday, 5 October 2009 21:57 (fifteen years ago)
i mean we would effectively be banning geir hongro from ILM
i still haven't heard one good reason against I Love Rate Your Music
dear pizza, we talked on Saturday, i ate you then. WTF, why are you writing me on Monday. Quit stalking me,
― Mr. Que, Monday, 5 October 2009 21:58 (fifteen years ago)
re rateyourmusic: it would be kind of interesting if the only degree to which you could rate stuff was "i still like this record and understand why i bought it" vs "i no longer like this record and am not glad that i own a copy" -- the results would be more interesting than learning that, you know, more people like than dislike kind of blue
