This smacks of shameless self-promotion, but we just put together a list of our favorite soft rock singles on Blender.com. Check it out and tell us everything we missed or how brilliant we are...we'd prefer the latter.

Blimey, are we getting spammed by Blender now?

Haha, really, really trying not to. Just figured ILMers might dig the list, or not, and would def stir up some debate.

as starter of ILM's soft rock thread, i approve of the list

but i don't approve of the spamming.

Meh, call it what you want. I don't consider it spamming. I've been a member of this board for a while and value posters' informed opinions. Of course I wanted to drive some traffic, but most of all I just wanted to get some feedback, stir up some debate etc. I wasn't plugging an album or trying to deceive anyone.

But, Jaxon, thanks for the approval on the list. Glad you enjoyed.

Is Key Largo by Bertie Higgins on there? If not, y'all need a refresher course.

Good call, but I believe that one's from the '82, and we kept our list limited to the 70s.

Arbitrary cut-off dates aren't very mellow, man.

kornrulez6969, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

haha, i hear that. we might have to do an '80s installment. was sad to pass on joe jackson "steppin out."

Unless it rocks too hard, Looking Glass's "Brandy" is a glaring omission.

love that song, but too much of a wedding and/or karaoke staple to mention. As we stated, these singles were just some of our favs. the feature wasn't intended to be a comprehensive list.

I don't like the term "softrock", really (it's all either AOR, MOR and pomp pop and those three genres have very little in common other than they never appealed to the younger demography among the record buyers)

Other than that, such a list should of course contain lots and lots and lots and lots of 10cc, ELO, Supertramp and Klaatu. All of them great pomp pop acts.
