Yup. I've seen them a few times also have their first 7" on angular records "gravitys rainbow". Also I saw them when they still had Finn as the drummer.

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:07 (eighteen years ago)

How about you Cutty?

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

TUOMAS WAS IN THE KLAXONS?

Noodle Vague, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

Mr. Que, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

2007, the year shit from 1990 (ninja turtles, emf) gets revived to sell to kids too young to remember it the first time around

strongohulkington, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:10 (eighteen years ago)

Seeing them on saturday, VERY excited!!!

Spencer Chow, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

Also Jess, they sound nothing like EMF (ninja turtles for that matter).

Spencer Chow, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

ethan is my new fave poster i think.

Cool who is supporting them.

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

That was to Spencer Chow.

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

Not sure, but they're at echo plex.

Spencer Chow, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

Also, I'd like to assure everyone that I am old enough to remember the first time around!

Spencer Chow, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

Well for a start I can safely say the person who wrote that review doesn't have a clue what he is on about. The Klaxons have pretty phat beats if you ask me, and most of their fans would agree. Ok maybe they don't sound EXACTLY like rave but what the hell did you excpect considering real rave is about 20 years old. Why would they want to make something that sounds old?

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

i dont think lex uses the phat scale like you do

cutty, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

'golden skans' is a tune! especially when sky use it to s/t the football.

i like the bit on the new one where the guitars go scrunch-WEEOOOO as well, that's cool

r|t|c, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:25 (eighteen years ago)

I think people need to stop thinking about this band in terms of Altern-8 and grebo-rave (despite what Klaxons themselves may lead us to believe) and think about them as psychedelic rock with broad tastes. Even I don't really think of their beats as "phat".

Spencer Chow, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

No i'm thinking more of proper rave like Haddaway, Livin' Joy, some Babylon Zoo, and stuff like that. Most DJs have stopped playing those things now except for some.

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:29 (eighteen years ago)

But if you don't think Klaxons have phat beats you don't know beats!

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:30 (eighteen years ago)

Woops I don't mean Babylon Zoo are rave in that post.

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:30 (eighteen years ago)

Er...

Spencer Chow, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

I like their beats, maybe my idea of "phat" is different.

Spencer Chow, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

And I think glowsticks have been banned from most places because people kept splitting them open and throwing them at each other. I know that is true in Nambucca and Trash, I mean Duuuh as it is now called.

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

Duh is such a stupid name for a club by the way.

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

it's not duh, or duuuuuh

cutty, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

Well how do you write it then Cutty?

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

although the whole thing was very enjoyable, my absolute favourite part was proper rave like Haddaway, Livin' Joy, some Babylon Zoo.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:46 (eighteen years ago)

it's called DURRR

cutty, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:46 (eighteen years ago)

Well however you say it it is still a junk name for a club!

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

And I hope it feels nice to be right!!

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

Anyway I have to go i'm going to Modular tonight a much better club than Duh sorry Cuttty aka Rory Philips ha ha!!!

Ethan Gaymead, Friday, 20 April 2007 17:54 (eighteen years ago)

Apparently not enough fans in America to make it even worth releasing over here.

"I am a fairly respected poster." (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 21 October 2010 20:21 (fifteen years ago)

I have no opinion on the Klaxons, but they always remind me of an exchange in my copyright law class, where the discussion had devolved into arguing about the record industry model

Girl A: "Well, I worked at [whatever major label it is] and let me tell you that the big record label model actually does a lot to help smaller artists. For example money from big artists helped to support The Klaxons, who are great, and who a lot fewer people would have heard about without a major label behind them."

Girl B: (raises hand) "First of all, the Klaxons are not that good."

Katy Lied, Lady Died (Hurting 2), Thursday, 21 October 2010 20:43 (fifteen years ago)

the guardian assigning lex the review of the first klaxons album is still one of the greatest moments in music journalism history

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 3 February 2014 20:18 (eleven years ago)

seems like they are going in a much more dance-oriented direction, not sure that's a good thing, I liked that Surfing the Void was more of a rock record.

Spaghetti Sauce Shampoo (Moodles), Monday, 10 February 2014 18:41 (eleven years ago)

They're quitting after the current tour.
