i wonder if i'll be the only one who votes 'accelerator.' the fake 80s production still gets me -- when the all the noise stops for those split second breaks during "banana question" i still feel like i'm listening to it for the first time. and "stevie" still brings tears to my eyes. if we were doing a 'best song' though i might go with "faca amolada" on 'singles' since it showed in three minutes how well they could do pretty, which rendered all the noise sorta more interesting to me

untitled (2nd s/t) is my favorite. short, a little uneven within that (hey, it suits them), just starting to get their sound together, but damn i love those songs: "lightning boxer", "air", "sometimes", "junkie nurse", "blood flowers", "hallucination". so sexy, sad & crushed. excellent work for years after, but i don't think they ever topped it.

cats and dogs an almost impossibly close 2nd. if "cleveland" and "steal yr face" were on it, might swing the other way.

there's a slight drop-off in form with those last two IMO, but yeah they're still great. I remember "Waterslide" got a load of daytime play on Radio 1 when it was released as a single because Mark Radcliffe was a fan, it was weird/cool hearing them on the radio.
