Shop Assistants rule 4eva!!

kornrulez6969, Friday, 20 April 2007 19:43 (eighteen years ago)

That's true. But I voted for the BMX Bandits because of their staying power.

everything, Friday, 20 April 2007 19:45 (eighteen years ago)

i voted for the vaselines because they were just about the best band anywhere, period.

fact checking cuz, Friday, 20 April 2007 21:27 (eighteen years ago)

bmx bandits great but made a lot of dodgy records along the way.

fact checking cuz, Friday, 20 April 2007 21:28 (eighteen years ago)

bmx bandits because they are making their best records ever right now, david scott may have something to do with that. although maybe i should vote for talulah gosh.

keythkeyth, Saturday, 21 April 2007 02:14 (eighteen years ago)

Who's this David Scott then? New guy in the band?

everything, Saturday, 21 April 2007 04:08 (eighteen years ago)

he's head pearlfisher. duglas and he are like best frends or something. duglas has been guesting on pearlfishers records for a while. david produced 'down at the hop' and now he's an official member. i think he's a genius, but that's just me. the more tender and intricate measures of the last couple of records have surely been down to him because there was a huge change between 'down at the hop' and 'my chain'. maybe i don't give duglas enough credit. 'beestings' is out soon, in japan. new pearlfishers album in September?

keythkeyth, Saturday, 21 April 2007 17:59 (eighteen years ago)

well not guesting, getting a co-writing credit on one song for the past three records.

Predicting a Shop Assistants landslide...

Did the Pooh Sticks release something on 53rd & 3rd?

Colonel Poo, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 21:08 (eighteen years ago)

I've got Orgasm on 53rd & 3rd, so yes.

Mister Craig, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 21:28 (eighteen years ago)

Ah, I have Multiple Orgasm which is on Fierce, thought everything from that era was on Fierce.

Colonel Poo, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 21:33 (eighteen years ago)

the househunters were kindof okay. chin chin not so good though. the vaselines were robbed. mind you i'm sure the nirvana millions go some way to compensating...

damn missed this poll, count an absentee vote for the shop assistants, pretty much the only band from that list i still listen to. the best thing about chin chin was finding the record in mint condition in a charity shop (animal rescue, ev. rd) for 50p & selling it on ebay for £30!

zappi, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:32 (eighteen years ago)

ha! me too! i got the 12" in oxfam tooting bec, there were 3 or 4 if i recall. 30 pounds you say joni?...

cw, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:40 (eighteen years ago)

big buxx! that was 3 years ago though, before ebay became the swamp it is now. that boy hairdressers single was good as well, must dig it out later.

zappi, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:52 (eighteen years ago)

man, i have yards of indiepop vinyl duplication, maybe i can flog it all on ebay and get myself a big fat cigarillo!

cw, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 11:00 (eighteen years ago)

I was going to cast an absentee vote, but I can't choose. (Ultimately, I'd probably have consulted 13-year old me and gone for the Vaselines, but it's tough.)

emil.y, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 12:49 (eighteen years ago)

Funny that the Boy Hairdressers got zero votes yet are the only ones of the whole lot to have progressed to any significant commercial success.

My memory is that the Chin-Chin record isn't bad, but I haven't heard it in years. They were Swedish or Norwegian were they not? I recall one gig they did in Glasgow - two chicks on guitars with a drum machine.
