One cd of oldskool, one cd of newskool in some kind of compact discular face off betwixt the genres.

has to be said a lot of the new stuff makes a lot of the old stuff sound like some teenagers kicking a tin of drill-bits round a barn.

new rave = rap rock for hipsters

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 22 April 2007 19:32 (eighteen years ago)

except a lot of it is even worse than rap rock, and it's more like that pukeworthy sugar ray -> g-love and special sauce axis.

Any disc that kicks off with "Let Me Be Your Fantasy" and "Playing with Knives" is going to make the Klaxons sound pretty stupid.

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 22 April 2007 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

I really fail to see how old breakbeat hardcore has anything to do with this indie rock with glowsticks nonsense.

Are they even taking good drugs? Like, the puuuure shit?!?!

On the other hand, Krome and Time - This Sound is For The Underground wins.

Belisarius, Sunday, 22 April 2007 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

CD one is pretty fucking great. This Sound..., Compnded and Far Out are all massive tunes. Beats a disc of sped-up indie nonsense any day.

have Kicks Like A Mule really covered 'Gravity's Rainbow' in some sort of cultural exchange?

Krome and Time - This Sound is For The Underground

serious business

aside from edge 1 and zero b, that 1st disc is choice

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 22 April 2007 23:09 (eighteen years ago)

This CD looks AWESOME.

Spencer Chow, Sunday, 22 April 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

I'm sure there are already umpteen compilations with exactly the same tracks as that first disc. I really don't see the point in this comp other than to get the Nu-Rave kids to actually acknowledge that their music has bugger all to do with Old Rave at all.

Can Nu-Rave be a "genre" when it appears to be primarily comprised of remixes of non-rave songs?

Curt1s Stephens, Sunday, 22 April 2007 23:21 (eighteen years ago)

I like to think of it less as a genre and more a seasonal clothing section in Topman, Oxford Street.

wAIT A MINUTE - Kixx does new wave? Rave?

Bimble, Sunday, 22 April 2007 23:26 (eighteen years ago)

Kiss

the next grozart, Sunday, 22 April 2007 23:26 (eighteen years ago)

although "New Rave" I never noticed, is quite close to "New Wave" - is that what they're getting at? A cross between New Wave and Rave?

wtf you don't rate either of these?

blueski, Sunday, 22 April 2007 23:54 (eighteen years ago)

re Sound Of Eden surprised to see this on there, good tune

it's probably because there's a horrible new 'cover version' of it out for the kids of today.

blueski, Sunday, 22 April 2007 23:55 (eighteen years ago)

ive never been sure if i like it, sometimes i do, sometimes i dont.

600, Sunday, 22 April 2007 23:56 (eighteen years ago)

i don't really love that Krome & Time track so much - at least not as much as 'The Slammer'.

blueski, Sunday, 22 April 2007 23:59 (eighteen years ago)

valid point.

pisces, Monday, 23 April 2007 02:04 (eighteen years ago)

New Rave = more like New Musical Express making up another shitass genre to cum all over and kill within six months.

the table is the table, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 03:03 (eighteen years ago)
