Has this been done? Listened to this for the first time in years, and was struck by my urge to forward through a bunch of songs I formally found essential. Heard a lot of filler. But, with longer edit of Helter Skelter helping take over for Revolution 9, and you've got something as concise yet eclectic as Revolver.
1. "Back in the U.S.S.R." 2:43
2. "Dear Prudence" 3:56
3. "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" 3:08
4. "Sexy Sadie" 3:15
5. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" 4:45
6. "Martha My Dear" 2:28
7. "I'm So Tired" 2:03
8. "Don't Pass Me By" 3:50
9. "Wild Honey Pie" 0:52
1. "Honey Pie" 2:40
2. "Yer Blues" 4:00
3. "Blackbird" 2:18
4. "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey" 2:24
6. "Long, Long, Long" 3:03
7. "Happiness Is a Warm Gun" 2:43
8. "Helter Skelter" 5:40
9. "Cry Baby Cry" 3:02

This has almost certainly been done, and it's only a matter of time before this gets locked, but whatever. Funnily enough I just got through listening to a one-disc White Album that me and a work buddy put together some years ago - there's a lot about it that doesn't quite thrill, but it's a pretty great collection of tracks:
1. Back in the USSR
2. Dear Prudence
3. Obla-Di, Ob-La-Da
4. Glass Onion
5. Savoy Truffle
6. Cry Baby Cry
7. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
1. Helter Skelter
2. I'm So Tired
3. Don't Pass Me By
4. Why Don't We Do It In The Road?
5. Yer Blues
6. Martha My Dear
7. What's The New Mary Jane?
8. Happiness Is A Warm Gun
This was put together by committee and so there's a lot of things that rather chafe at me now - why has Obla-Di survived? Why not "Long Long Long" instead of "Guitar"? But at the same time I dig a lot of it - ending on "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" seems a lot more interesting than "Good Night" (your Cry Baby Cry similarly, I like that). And I stand behind replacing "Revolution 9," whatever its qualities, with the equally freaky but more plausibly songlike "What's The New Mary Jane." Just enough of the quirky oddity to get the general flavor, enough beloved classics to make an unassailable disc.
Now that I think about it, we actually ended up reshuffling the entire late Beatles output, so a lot of stuff we took off the White Album ended up being used to make Let It Be not suck so bad, and/or was carried over to the members' solo careers.... that was a fun day at work.
I totally started a thread where I tried to do this for the Smashing Pumpkins double album, but good luck finding that with nuILX search.
