That should be "The disco sound, hey" obviously. Apologies for the scientific inaccuracy.

Groke, Monday, 23 April 2007 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

the next grozart, Monday, 23 April 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)

song written before "The Music" became name of rub band, so don't worry about ticking that one. i went for renegade soundwave as they are better than all tv.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 23 April 2007 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

NYCNative, Monday, 23 April 2007 16:27 (eighteen years ago)

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Monday, 23 April 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

I purchased a Renegade Soundwave tape at the "recomendation" of "Can You Dig It."

I didn't.

NYCNative, Monday, 23 April 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

My vote for best, most hilarious poll EVUH!!!!

P.S. "The music." Encompasses Run DMC, AC/DC, disco, etc.

Kevin John Bozelka, Monday, 23 April 2007 22:44 (eighteen years ago)

Renegade Soundwave gets my vote as well!

Jeff Treppel, Monday, 23 April 2007 22:48 (eighteen years ago)

One of my favorite albums! PWEI rocked!

eeyore19, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 00:04 (eighteen years ago)

best poll ever. "Shouldn't this be on ILE" best response ever.

mrlynch, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 00:21 (eighteen years ago)

"Saturday in the Park"

Rockist Scientist, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 00:26 (eighteen years ago)

Voted for DC as in Direct Connect.

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 00:27 (eighteen years ago)

My father used to buy the CMJ Certain Damage comps, and I remember playing the fuck out of this song on one of them. I wonder if I should look for the albums again; I think the only one to survive from my high school collection to now was the Dos Dedos, which I doubt (now) is their best effort...

I eat cannibals, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 02:19 (eighteen years ago)

And yeah, this is what got me into Renegade Soundwave. That and another CMJ appearance, with their eponymous tune which still gets stuck in my head all the time... "Just got back from a... house party." It made house parties sound entirely more awesome than I ever saw out here in the midwest.

I eat cannibals, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 02:21 (eighteen years ago)

Seriously, this is the best poll ever.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 03:31 (eighteen years ago)

It's The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. And they got my vote.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 07:17 (eighteen years ago)

I also cannot vote because I like much of this list.

Scik Mouthy, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 09:27 (eighteen years ago)

I have been avoiding this thread in case it was about the Mock Turtles. Shouldn't it be 'Can U Dig It?'?

NickB, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 10:32 (eighteen years ago)

Another blow for science :(

Groke, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 10:34 (eighteen years ago)

Digging is the right of all sentient beings.

blueski, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 11:49 (eighteen years ago)

tough choice! best poll ever though, absomalutely.

CharlieNo4, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 11:53 (eighteen years ago)

What, no David Milliband?

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 12:02 (eighteen years ago)

it's the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers

did you read the second post?

or the twelfth item on the list?

energy flash gordon, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)

What does the twelth item has to do with the Freak Brothers?

Tuomas, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 13:13 (eighteen years ago)

I "wonder" what all this greebo "stuff" is all about?

christoff, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 14:27 (eighteen years ago)

RSW!!!!

best band of all time!

I got into both at the same time, but whereas I can't listen to pwei anymore, RSW still get's tons of play.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 15:31 (eighteen years ago)

The last two we don't dig, we like, right?

NYCNative, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

Results!

1. YOU BIG BUNCH OF INDIEISTS. Good tune, though.
2. "Riffs" beating "The Disco Sound" - DON'T MAKE ME USE THE R-WORD.
3. Optimus Prime: still got it.
4. DC 3 Marvel 0 - this will be some comfort to Dan DiDio in this difficult publishing time.

What happened to the Mock Turtles then?

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 08:03 (eighteen years ago)

I can't believe no one else voted for "Da Doo Ron Ron".

Alba, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 08:05 (eighteen years ago)

Perhaps they mistook it for "The Stonk."

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 08:07 (eighteen years ago)

i'm so sad the 'riffs' beat 'the disco sound' - ilm you are so lame!

i have no idea what 'hit the north' is.

lex pretend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 08:08 (eighteen years ago)

i have no idea what 'hit the north' is.

fixed.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 08:09 (eighteen years ago)

It's what lovable glove puppet Basil Brush used to do to his "master" every Saturday teatime in the seventies.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 08:10 (eighteen years ago)

into the groovey is rub

Alan, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:11 (eighteen years ago)

yes

blueski, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:13 (eighteen years ago)

Is it the worst thing on the list? I am not sure I ever saw "Remote Control".

Groke, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:14 (eighteen years ago)

ha ha DC >>> Marvel

Alan, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:14 (eighteen years ago)

In retrospect, my vote for Into The Groovey was more a vote for Addicted To Love... so I should really have voted for one of Marvel, Terminator, or Alan Moore.

The Real Dirty Vicar, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:15 (eighteen years ago)

what is Spinderella?

The Real Dirty Vicar, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:15 (eighteen years ago)

Salt N Pepa's DJ.

Groke, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:16 (eighteen years ago)

Into The Groove(y) was great!

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:17 (eighteen years ago)

spinderella cut it up one time!

can't believe people rag on me for not knowing obscure things and then it transpires that they haven't heard of spinderella

lex pretend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:20 (eighteen years ago)

They were probably all too busy listening to C86 at the time.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:30 (eighteen years ago)

There were two different Spinderellas though, and Tom didn't state which one he meant.

Tuomas, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:48 (eighteen years ago)

who was the other Spinderella? it would be funny if they had meant the less famous one.

blueski, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:49 (eighteen years ago)

From Wiki:

Their 1986 debut, Hot, Cool & Vicious, which was produced by Salt's then-boyfriend, Hurby Azor, the group's manager, and he received songwriting credit for the album, though this was later disputed. It also featured DJ Pamela Green as the original Spinderella [1] though they do not include her in their list of credits, and neither does the album sleeve, but her face is included on the album cover.

I think Nas refers to "the original Spinderella" on "Where Are They Know".

Tuomas, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:51 (eighteen years ago)

Tuomas I am only as good as my sources here! They might have meant their mate Alan Moore who can get you really cheap bathroom tiles for all I know.

Groke, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:52 (eighteen years ago)

they forgot Matt DC.

blueski, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:53 (eighteen years ago)

hang on is this actually a thing? i thought the poll options were just random things tom picked out!

lex pretend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:55 (eighteen years ago)

"Riffs, yeah" was robbed.
