missing "we will rock you"

abanana, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:06 (eighteen years ago)

How did they create an album with both "Jock" and "Jams" in the title without some Dave Matthews Band?

Cunga, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:10 (eighteen years ago)

absolute, total, unequivocal classic. no question.

max, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:13 (eighteen years ago)

"We Will Rock You" was on Jock Rock, obv.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:17 (eighteen years ago)

Cunga: Why is he so bad and hated?

The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:18 (eighteen years ago)

which one had the montell jordan jam on it? that was my shit.

max, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:19 (eighteen years ago)

volume 2 apparently, and I think I need to head back to the "4 best songs of all time" thread to change one of them to "This Is How We Do It".

The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:27 (eighteen years ago)

yeah why did i say "that was my shit" when i meant "that is my shit, for all time and forever"

max, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:28 (eighteen years ago)

2. 2 Unlimited - "Get Ready for This!"
3. Tag Team - "Whoomp! (There It Is)"
4. Black Box - "Strike It Up"
5. 69 Boys - "Tootsie Roll"

best sequencing job EVER?

impudent harlot, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:55 (eighteen years ago)

been way too long since i shot a basketball for me to call this classic

deeznuts, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:57 (eighteen years ago)

but it does have a mysterious power when played over crappy gymnasium speakers i will admit

deeznuts, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 05:58 (eighteen years ago)

It has mysterious power at all times.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 06:02 (eighteen years ago)

First album was so classic, but the others were amazing too. Vol 3 and 4 had some ridiculously good megamixes, and vol 4 also had a 2 Unlimited megamix. Vol 3 is probably the second best, since it has:

Tribal Dance - 2 Unlimited
Ready To Go - Republica
I Like It Like That - Tito Nieves
C'mon & Ride It (The Train) - Quad City DJ's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Da' Dip - Freak Nasty
No Diggity - Blackstreet
Let Me Clear My Throat - DJ Kool
That's The Way I Like It - KC And The Sunshine Band
Cotton Eye Joe - Rednex (it works in context)
Robi Rob's Boriqua Anthem - C & C Music Factory
Jock Jam megamix

musically, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 06:31 (eighteen years ago)

"Robi's Rob's Boriqua Anthem" is quite possibly the most underrated single of the 90's. Just extremely awesome.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 06:33 (eighteen years ago)

Why the title? None of these tracks is Scottish.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 06:51 (eighteen years ago)

What does Scottishness have to do with anything? They are upbeat songs that accompany athletic activity rather well, hence, Jock Jams.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 06:53 (eighteen years ago)

Am I the only one that really thinks "Pump Up the Jam" was actually a good song devoid of any novelty value? I'm such a sucker for the way they mixed it with the bass hits coming out of the left channel and the snare hits out of the right. No that wasn't facetious.

Stevie D, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 06:58 (eighteen years ago)

I came very close to agreeing with you, then realized that "Pump Up The Jam" is a great song because of, rather than in spite of, its novelty value.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 07:12 (eighteen years ago)

This thread needs to be back on the front page.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 22:57 (eighteen years ago)

Classic = 2 Unlimited in Bring It On!

Spencer Chow, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 22:59 (eighteen years ago)

Classic or DUDE

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

C'mon & Ride It (The Train)

yes, YES

Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 23:03 (eighteen years ago)

Volume 3 is the tits.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 23:04 (eighteen years ago)

69 Boys - "Tootsie Roll"

yes, yes, YES

Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 23:07 (eighteen years ago)

I'm listening to vol 1...there is not a single not amazing track on it. And don't say anything bad about YMCA because it works brilliantly in this context.

musically, Thursday, 26 April 2007 04:07 (eighteen years ago)

This makes me want to try out for Basketball next year. Layups to "Whoomp! (There It Is)"? OH YES.

Tape Store, Thursday, 26 April 2007 04:13 (eighteen years ago)

I'm looking up the ESPN comps...apparently instead of having the Jock Jams series continue after vol. 5 they had a series called Jock Rock, one album called Slam Jams and one called Stadium Anthems. All the same type of albums though. Must get all of them...

musically, Thursday, 26 April 2007 04:30 (eighteen years ago)

I used to play this CD to bridge the gap between the high-school game and the "fifth quarter" post-game show.

Pleasant Plains, Thursday, 26 April 2007 04:47 (eighteen years ago)

Volume 2 has a few of my favorites from those days

"This Is Your Night" - Amber
"I Like to Move It" - Reel 2 Real
"Boom Boom Boom" - The Outhere Brothers (winner - the explicit version is so filthy)

chris.steffen, Thursday, 26 April 2007 05:42 (eighteen years ago)

in elementary school one kid would occasionally bring like a tiger electronics mini boom box on the bus and i don't remember them playing anything on it besides a cassette of the first jock jams. 2CLASSIC.

A B C, Thursday, 26 April 2007 06:47 (eighteen years ago)
