i'll go for the s/t. i've never owned grip it, though, and i know some people rate it higher. we can't be stopped is obviously next in line, some of till death is excellent.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 13:28 (eighteen years ago)

bump cause if it falls off the page it'll never come back!

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:33 (eighteen years ago)

whatever one has "mind playing tricks on me" - if someone else could just press that option for me, that'd be great, i'm feeling kinda lazy right now.

sw00ds, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:39 (eighteen years ago)

I'd have voted for 12" single "do it like a g.o."/"fuck 'em all" if it'd been a choice ;_; "fuck 'em all" is fucking awesome.

Pashmina, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:43 (eighteen years ago)

voted till death do us part of course but love ever one of these (esp underrated da good da bad...) & almost gave it to foundation just for 'g-code'

and what, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)

mind playing tricks is on we can't be stopped

i forget which one i voted for a second ago already somehow but i think it was grip it.

deej, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)

grip it for me, but that was the first one i had when i was a kid.

M@tt He1ges0n, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)

"Geto Boys" and "Grip It" are almost the same album.

Chris H., Wednesday, 25 April 2007 20:34 (eighteen years ago)

i voted for grip it! cause i'm hardcore yo ... also, i prefer it just a wee bit to geto boys. more importantly, it's the one i listen to most often (resurrection is 2d, on the strength of the first 4 songs, "point of no return" and "i just wanna die" plus it's willie d's strongest effort IMHO).

Eisbaer, Thursday, 26 April 2007 02:15 (eighteen years ago)

VOTE!

Eisbaer, Monday, 30 April 2007 22:00 (eighteen years ago)

really. i know there are more geto boys fans than have posted above.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 01:56 (eighteen years ago)

For real, The Foundation is the strongest album of the bunch in my opinion. All of them have great stuff but I listen to that album from beginning to end more than any of the others. It runs through so many moods - Willie Dee's verse on "I Tried" is one of the most moving lyrics I've ever heard anywhere, gets me every time, and his delivery of it is just incredible. Plus Bushwick's "Dirty Bitch" is his best unhinged rant ever.

Hans Rott, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 02:01 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, foundation is quite good -- i would say "better than could be expected," but that's not really accurate since their records have actually been pretty consistent IMHO (not to mention scarface's general high quality).

biggest g-boys mystery: why is it that willie d can be so good on geto boys records, but is so mediocre solo?!?

Eisbaer, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 02:07 (eighteen years ago)

you know his solo tape Controversy had several tunes that became Geto Boys standards! it also famous had "Bald Headed Hoes"

he was pretty young when he did that stuff though. When was the last time he tried to do anything solo?

Hans Rott, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 02:12 (eighteen years ago)

i liked controversy. i mean, yeah, totally raw and very stupid in spots but nearly as bad as every review ever had led me to believe.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 13:29 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, controversy's underrated. I once saw the video to bald headed hoes, it's awesome. doesn't seem to be on youtube unfortunately.

Edward III, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 14:02 (eighteen years ago)

[i[I once saw the video to bald headed hoes[/i]

very, very jealous of you right now

Hans Rott, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 15:16 (eighteen years ago)

ok tags duh, sorry

Hans Rott, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 15:17 (eighteen years ago)

when he lipsyncs the slowed down chorus it's a thing of beauty.

Edward III, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 15:32 (eighteen years ago)

wow, a lotta grip it!/geto boys love. kinda surprised that resurrection didn't get any votes at all (it would've been my 2d choice).

Eisbaer, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 23:43 (eighteen years ago)

Willie D's 1st solo record is best of all.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 3 May 2007 00:46 (eighteen years ago)

three years pass...

Resurrection needs more love. the lyrics do a good job of blending introspective, political, and outright gangsta, and the production is smooth too.

not necessarily the best but 0 votes? dag
