Has there been a lot more posts than usual on ILM since the introduction of the polls?

I suppose that may be a question only Stet or Keith can answer, but everyone else can moan about the quality of posts :)

ILM definitely seems busier than it was, since it seemed practically dead for ages , and I've noticed people who rarely post now posting more. Infact a few people have said on threads that it has made them post more or has brought them back to ILM.
But will this be shortlived? of course perhaps some posters have stopped posting.

What do you think the effect of polls has been?

where's the voting options?

You like polls??

There have been more threads devoted to one particular act. Namely acts that have released a bit more than just a few albums, and that have been around for longer than just up to 4-5 years.

This is good.

I agree

What would be interesting if activity in non-poll threads has gone up specifically due to people seeking to drive the polls from the face of the New Answers page.

I think the poll era will come to a close soon.
I hope so.

I've seen nothing to indicate that people posting on typical rock band poll threads are also posting on other threads.

T/S poll threads v meta threads about poll threads

ailsa, Saturday, 28 April 2007 10:10 (eighteen years ago)

The least successful meta thread ever? Wahey I've killed them!

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Saturday, 28 April 2007 13:18 (eighteen years ago)

Your understanding and application of logic needs some work :-)

I would hazard a guess that this thread is not terrifically successful is more that:

(1) your question is based on a fuzzy statistical notion of "usual" number of pre-poll posts vs the benefits of getting half a dozen Can fans arguing with each other over their favourite album or whatever (which they could and did do anyway) and then PROVING it with (meaningless) STATS.
(2) there are plenty of meta threads where people can argue about the merits of polls - I don't really see the value of yet another one.
(3) people have better things to do with their weekends

We should start a poll to find out...

NYCNative, Saturday, 28 April 2007 14:17 (eighteen years ago)

The titles of the polls lure random googlers.
