LC's first three albums have just been rereleased in digipak form with bonus tracks. What i'd like to know is, are they remastered, does anyone know? I read they were, in The Sunday Times, but this isn't mantioned on Amazon etc., or on Cohen sites.
"To mark the 40th Anniversary of Leonard Cohen's debut recording, SONY BMG MUSIC (CANADA) INC./Legacy Records will re-release his first three albums: Songs of Leonard Cohen (1967), Songs From A Room (1969) and Songs Of Love And Hate (1970) on April 24, 2007. Each expanded, hardcover digipak edition owill contain previously unreleased bonus material as well as separate newly commissioned liner notes essays written by Rolling Stone contributing editor Anthony DeCurtis."

I have been thinking about buying those albums, but still haven't gotten round to it. In retrospect, it's good I didn't :)

There's a moment in the book about Nico "Songs They Never Play On The Radio" where she claims Leonard Cohen broke her wrist. I'm sure this is just a bad dream of heroin withdrawal, is it?

ummm..ha, umm..

So far, there has never been an expanded edition of a CD ever released on Sony Legacy without being remastered.

I have all three on vinyl, they sound great, no need to replace.

Bimble, can you give more context about that Nico wrist thing?

It's worth reading the whole book, it's a great book, but:

"Nico was catatonic on the methadone: 'That Leonard Cohen...he broke my wrist.'
"No one had been talking about Leonard Cohen, or wrists. In fact no one was talking at all....
" '...he twisted it and twisted it until he broke it.' She was starting to get upset as the memory got closer. The methadone didn't block that stuff out.
"Echo came in all conciliatory. 'See what charmin' companions y' ave now, Nico, see 'ow much things've improved.' "

charmin.

Anthony DeCurtis please break up.

The AMG says the albums have been remastered. If they continue through the catalogue, will there finally be a US release for Live Songs?

ten months pass...

They are definitely remastered.

Btw. does anyone know if there are any plans to remaster the rest of his output.

As of now, I only have a burned copy of "I'm Your Man" and I will not buy it if there's a remaster on the way.
