Hey - my buddy left a mix cd in my van and there are two songs on it that are blowing my mind but neither he nor I have any idea who the artist is. It's a pretty lo-fi soul funk tune, and the lead vocalist is probably no less than ten years old. At first I thought it might have even been the weirdest Jackson 5 song I'd ever heard, but Google turns up nothing at all. The first song's chorus is "Come on Candy (Come on Candy!) / Fine and Dandy (fine and dandy!)" with background vocals, lots and LOTS of great organ, and this little guy just SCREAMING his head off. The second song sounds like it's called "Our Future" and the lyrics are all like "No more / mama's crying / No more / brothas dyin' / no more / hustlin' dope" etc.

This might be a soul classic that I've never heard but is more likely from a weirdo beatminer comp or something. Recording quality is pretty terrible. Anyone???

uhh... jr. and his soulettes psychodelic sounds? that's probably not it, but it was the first thing that came to mind.

Whoa - this looks like it may be it, but I don't recognize any of those track titles. I'll download the album on slsk and see if this is it. This is the cloisest I've come dude, so thanks! I'll let ya know...

Remarkably, this isn't it - but I could SWEAR the vocalist is the same. The thing is, this album - which is pretty killer, by the way - is largely instrumental. The jams I describe above were WAY vocal heavy. I'm guessing there are no JR and His Soulettes 'bonus tracks,' right?

Damn. The search continues. Anybody? This shit is really incredible.

man... that's pretty much all I got. unless it's from schoolhouse funk or something.

Can you up this on rapidshare or somewhere?

These actually do sound really familiar to me .. problem is determining which of the gazillion funk 45 comps i have might contain these tracks..
