swizz beatz - MONEY IN THE BANK

disappointed in this, tbh. he's still more exuberant & engaging on the mic than most anyone else i'll probly suffer through this year, but 'bitches' and 'bank' kinda strung me along into expecting something a little, i dunno, crazier. more of that skittish nausea party crack! is that so bad.

if i had a car i doubt i'd bother moaning about the ruff ryders throwback stuff, but then 'bust your gunz' is a weaker 'kingdom come', 'you know your boy did that' is some clipse rubbish, 'top down' is some PUTS/dilated ho-hum rubbish (admit it) and i never wanna hear that bill withers sample ever again. the chris martin's not even that bad actually! and that's literally all there is to it.

oh sorry i shoulda said i was talking about the album. 'money in the bank' is yet to disappoint me.

isn't it great, btw, in this song, that he spends the whole time being a cynical seen-it-all dick to these random club skeezers, with all the showy superfocused production tics in the world to prove how large and in charge he is, and then at the end just sighs "took her out bought her all kinds of things but it wasn't enough so this is the song i sing"!! haha with the cute little "cos she broke!" to try and save face. a sucker like all the rest of us.

this new swizz blendz phase = best shit everrrrr. can't decide between the teen love affair and mary rmxs.

yeah I love that Swizz is always subverting his king of keyboard beats status and going digging in the crates (although I lost some respect for him when he said he didn't think to sample Jay's voice til Def Jam released that retail CD of Black Album a cappellas -- dude, you're a DJ, wtf!). seems kinda silly to me that they couldn't get a Chubb Rock or Slick Rick verse for those remixes where he jacked their beats, though.
