This needs its own thread.
I really want to hear this RIGHT NOW. The single "All Woman" is fucking brilliant and I believe this could be my album of the year.

It's pretty good. Some of the stuff reminds me of One Down-era Material, but I don't know yet if Diamond is in Nona Hendryx's.

beardo soul?

I'm drooling over this one too...has a mid-80's uptown R&B feel to it...chick looks like Stacy Q on the cover!

i found this album on a blog and DLed it. it's pretty alright.

*"Hendryx's league," I should have said

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 4 May 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

'its pretty alright' is right i think. some songs are GREAT, when not heard in the context of the album.

i said this before but i think the downside is it reminds me of the tynan 'electrosoul' thread

like, her voice is fine. pretty.

It's a pretty chill record, but I like it -- however, I usually skip the in-between a capella tracks. Also, there's something strange about the production -- very compressed vocals, kind of fried sounding sometimes, occasionally bedroom-ish where, say, Mu or Syclops sound huge.

Dominique, Friday, 4 May 2007 19:34 (eighteen years ago)

yes nice bedroom electrosoul (with all the caveats that entails). but i'm enjoying it.

Why didn't this album get more love on ILM? It's superb

braveclub, Friday, 15 February 2008 12:33 (seventeen years ago)

the songs i've heard are great, is it all produced by maurice fulton? love the slowed-down 'voodoo ray' ballad 'i need you'. 'on & on', 'over' and 'until the sun goes down' are really nice, too. yeah, surprising the lack of love for this here, it should've gone down a treat.

or something, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:22 (seventeen years ago)

Really didn't get the hype on this one. The production was standard Fulton fare (i.e. good) but the vocals were flat, couldn't feel anything. The accapella tracks that act as intros were immediate skips.

love the synth rhythmifuck in 'all woman'. used to play that track out quite a lot, did a nice edit of it at one point cuz the arrangement is all over the shop.

Crackle Box, Friday, 15 February 2008 14:45 (seventeen years ago)

i was all tempering my praise cuz i expected this to be a big ILM record, but yeah this album was really really good

deej, Friday, 15 February 2008 16:47 (seventeen years ago)

I love this album.

Love Saves The Day, The Fear, Whispers, Paying The Price, A Little Bit More, In My System - a "featuring Kathy Diamond" compilation album would be very welcome.
