Well, also because of their inclusion on that mighty fine Australian post-punk retrospective (Can't Stop It) available via Chapter Music, and because of the ties w/ the Go-Betweens, and because the esteemed Franklin J. Bruno, Honorary Glenn, covered a song of theirs ("Great Fool") on his 1st CD. And because I'm curious.

I'm surprised no one's asked about Savage Garden yet.

I love the Necks. Especially when I am overdosing on Ibuprofen.

I used to have life full of farewells and it was good if a bit cliched and sort of adult pop sounding in some parts. I don't know where my copy went but the Go-Betweens connection is pretty obvious too. Are their albums still in print?

None of the albums are still in print. The Evening Visits, which features the This Mortal Coil-covered "Mr Somewhere", is a beautiful album and a lost classic, and I will happily copy it for anyone who requires.

The Go Betweens connection springs from them being from the same town (BrisVegas) and both having an Able Label 7" released. I'm not aware of any collaboration between the artists beyond that (I shall have to check my GoBs biog (by David Nichols, who also co-curated the Can't Stop It comp))..

Thanks! I was wondering if anyone would mention it here.

What's your involvement with it? Are you in one of the bands?

electric sound of jim, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ah, just answered my own question, the answer being Several Of Them.

electric sound of jim, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"several of them"

actually only 2 but I knew a few of the others as well.

the comp doesn't tell the whole story, obviously, but it does a pretty good job. maybe not enough 'rock'???
