If you like football chant culture, check out the Guardian's songbook (with apologies for not knowing how to put a link in properly): http://football.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,9753,613995,00.html

Apart from loathing anything Arsenal, especially if they have a song out which means that they are in some final or other (Oh no ! again !), I have a soft wet spot reserved for the abysmal Everton 1985 song "Here We Go". It featured some really primitive Break Machine-style synchronised handclaps, with the aforementioned 80s scouse-no-style yobathon terrace anthem set to a jaunty hybrid beat that somehow managed to make hip-hop seem like George Formby. Maybe that was the intention, I'm not sure.

The Everton and Liverpool 1985 Cup final records were produced by the same cheesy looking feller. This could not have happened in Glasgow or Turin. I used to have the publicity shots for both on my kitchen wall and I swear he was wearing the same sparkly pullover in both photos.

"Here We Go" was no worse than the Toffees' effort the previous year - "The Boys In Blue", an air-punching squealing rocker of zero quality... 'The boys in blue are back again/To show what they can do... we're the boys, we're the boys IN BLUE... WOOOO!'.

I can't remember the songs for the all-Murkyside cup final of '86 - I'm fairly certain they didn't chart. "Anfield Rap" went top 3 in '88, however, and is phenomenally excruciating.

Anyone heard "You can't win em all" by Brian Clough and paper lace?

'Arrivederci it's one-on-one' is a truly daft line, for sure, but what a record!!

I wish someone from TO could back me up but CFNY claims New Order lawyers won't let the station play that song. It was on the Ongoing History of Rock show but I had just started my midnight shift so I wasnt quite awake yet. 3 or 4 years ago. Anyone else catch it?
