OK, one of the most successful Eurovision nations ever.

"Waterloo" would obviously win this poll if it had been included, so, other than that one, what is the (second) best Swedish entry ever?

The Poll ends roughly at the same time as we have a winner in Helsinki. :)

the gun-guitar...wow

sounds ever-so slightly Abbaesque in places. "see that girl, watch that scene..."

Frogman Henry, Thursday, 10 May 2007 00:50 (eighteen years ago)

so now it can be said beatles were on eurovision

Frogman Henry, Thursday, 10 May 2007 00:51 (eighteen years ago)

ILM has become very weird.

chap, Thursday, 10 May 2007 00:53 (eighteen years ago)

I voted for Herreys.

Grandpont Genie, Thursday, 10 May 2007 09:04 (eighteen years ago)

they were dancing in their golden shoes!

Grandpont Genie, Thursday, 10 May 2007 09:04 (eighteen years ago)

It comes down to Jill Johnson, Lena Ph and The Ark.

I'm going with Lena Ph.

I voted "Waterloo" tee hee.

Mark G, Thursday, 10 May 2007 09:29 (eighteen years ago)

I voted for Ted Gärdestad, because he's mentioned in Lukas Moodysson's Tilsammans.

rener, Thursday, 10 May 2007 10:24 (eighteen years ago)

That Herreys song is one of my least favourite ever, but both Engstad and Carola's contributions are classics.

But lol Geir: "Se På Mig" is not Jan Johansson's song, it's Jan Johansen, a mediocre pop-singer and not a great jazz pianist.

Carola for me.

the Dirt, Thursday, 10 May 2007 10:39 (eighteen years ago)

Which Carola? 1983 or 2006?

mike t-diva, Thursday, 10 May 2007 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

ah, '91 edition

the Dirt, Thursday, 10 May 2007 11:38 (eighteen years ago)

But lol Geir: "Se På Mig" is not Jan Johansson's song, it's Jan Johansen, a mediocre pop-singer and not a great jazz pianist.

Stricly speaking, I think both are called Jan Johansen. And your mediocre pop singer is the son of your great jazz pianost.

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 10 May 2007 12:08 (eighteen years ago)

No, you're thinking of Egil Johansen. Jan Johansson is the guy who made "Jazz på Rysska/ Svenska", among other jazz classics. Wouldn't call Egil "Brazz Brothers" Johansen a great jazz pianist, especially since he is a percussionist.

1985 Kikki Danielsson: Bra vibrationer

OK, this should win (I've never heard it though)

ailsa, Thursday, 10 May 2007 16:05 (eighteen years ago)

Because it contains the word "bra" you mean? :)

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 10 May 2007 18:55 (eighteen years ago)

What kind of a question is this? Björn Skifs is my pick, only for mentioning squash in the lyrics. Most hated is of course Martin Stenmarck.

sonderangerbot, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

The worst Swedish entry ever isn't Martin Stenmarck. That would be the one linked about (it ended up in the last place, and this was before the worst half of the entries didn't even get a place)

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 10 May 2007 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

linked ABOVE, I mean

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 10 May 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)

Agreed, but Forbes are at least awful in a fun way. Not only did the Stenmarck song suck but he also brought great shame on his country, forcing Carola to qualify following year.

sonderangerbot, Thursday, 10 May 2007 22:52 (eighteen years ago)

The having to qualify thing the Swedes will have to get used to soon. After all, Sweden isn't in Eastern Europe.
