OH MAN I totally forgot about this song. It was my jam back in 8th Grade.

Video:

Steph Jones, who I mentioned in the Rolling R&B Thread, plays the lead male interest in the vid! How weird lol.

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 10 May 2007 18:49 (eighteen years ago)

Do you wish to download file chubbyschoolgirls.avi?

strongohulkington, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:09 (eighteen years ago)

"five fabulous weeks of nickleback"

strongohulkington, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:09 (eighteen years ago)

the best thing about the toya vid is the bit when they get POSSESSSED by the SPAZZ BEAT SWITCH!! i always confused her with kandi too.

internet says it was produced by er, the nimrods... but this is the thing about the pink comparison too tho, it wz such a healthy pop time for random producers aping stuff with big bright colours. especially euro dudes! like that first christina milian cd brought to you by irv gotti, the artful dodger and THE PEOPLES OF SCANDINAVIA

r|t|c, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

samantha mumba springs unbidden to mind

(i lie, i loved 'gotta tell you')

lex pretend, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

haahaha man i was on christina milians dick back then too

and what, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:21 (eighteen years ago)

actually, i still don't know what genius produced 'am to pm'!

stargate are the only ones left now i guess. bhangra times were good for the world too, even tho i'm still not sure i'd care to revisit just yet

r|t|c, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)

i dunno, wasn't there just a thread how some crazed norwegians are set to take over our charts via ne-yo et al?

strongohulkington, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:25 (eighteen years ago)

am to pm was dudes who went on to do 'toxic' i think

The backing for "Sweet Dreams (My LA Ex)" has also been re-used by American artist Brooke Valentine for her album track, "Blah Blah Blah."

i totally forgot about this

strongohulkington, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

too bad for them that brooke valentine bricked

strongohulkington, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

not too bad for us because that album sucked

strongohulkington, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

wasnt there some breathless ilm thread calling it the best album since that shitty basement jaxx album

and what, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:30 (eighteen years ago)

proto-poptimism

strongohulkington, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:30 (eighteen years ago)

lex pretend, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:30 (eighteen years ago)

and what, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

brooke is great, anyway. was. she's in that r&b elephant's graveyard too i guess now.

lex pretend, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

if anyone has an mp3 of total's what the dealio lying around, i would really like to hear that right now

strongohulkington, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:33 (eighteen years ago)

i saw brooke at 112 last year, she was really smiley & shiny & had a baggy promo tshirt on

and what, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)

xp can we talk about the total/biggie joint instead? gimme all the chickenheads from pasadena to medina

strongohulkington, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)

Whatever happened to Total anyway? "Kissin You" is like one of the best songs of the 90s.

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 10 May 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)

haha did anyone ever come across <a href="[Removed Illegal Link] unreleased 2nd album?? i downloaded it the other month and there was one japanesey tune with the clipse on it. it sucked.

4real, that brooke val was a total throwback to them days. i liked it tho, like if u could handle an ep of desperate housewives then u were set cos that is that on wax. plus if pink had made those songs she'd have had 10 number ones no problem.

are there any other euro/norwegians at large then besides neyo? i figured once they managed to make a beat on nas' album the country gave up.

the only one i was listening to when it was out was the amerie, aaliyah was EVERYWHERE so i didnt even bother and i barely remember toya and didn't discover her til like '03 when i was going through all this shit i missed (thnx ilm)

deej, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

Please don't sleep on Toya's equally awesome "OMG it sounds like rave music!" follow-up single "Don't Stop (Party All Night)" or whatever it was - I'm pretty sure Mitch will represent for it. Also the single included theamazing "I Do Pt 2"!!! Which was some kind of chunky Trackmasters on an electroacoustic tip affair. A totally different song (also as a general rule the Trackmasters were always at the best when making sequels - check "Bills Bills Bills" and "Best of Me" sequels in particular).

I miss that time when all R&B singers felt obliged to put out sequels.

Tim F, Thursday, 10 May 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

Actually it was "No Matter What (Party All Night)" wasn't it?

Tim F, Thursday, 10 May 2007 22:48 (eighteen years ago)

hmm yeah i clocked that part 2 on amazon earlier! mostly tho it provoked me into a brief wondering about how murphy lee managed to make a comeback in 07.

otherwise, yes it was and there u go

r|t|c, Thursday, 10 May 2007 23:02 (eighteen years ago)

Ha ha now I'm getting nostalgic for my much-beloved "Dirty Girl (Remix)" by Latrelle!

Tim F, Thursday, 10 May 2007 23:04 (eighteen years ago)

on the bright side tho, only 3 years til latrelle's album comes out! ...on cassette!
