I seldom listen to the radio. How many of the tracks on "Hyphy Hits" were/are actual hits?

I love it, may be album of the year for me. Just wondering.

Oh yeah, it's worth mentioning that I live in Seattle, not the Yay Area.

The only track on there I've actually heard on the radio is "Superhyphy". I find it kinda wierd that the few hyphy songs on that have been national hits are omitted, especially in light of how hit-crammed its sister Crunk Hits comps are. I don't mind the insularity, though.

Oh yeah, it's worth mentioning that I live in Seattle, too. And worth mentioning that I've heard a few of the other tracks out and about.

the ones that everybody knows / i hear all the time are "super hyphy", "i got grapes", "get on my hype", "take you down", "super sic with it" and "gouda".

but around here, pretty much everybody is still bumping the e-40 album ALL TEH DAMN TIME so that's no surprise.

i think there is an even higher percentage of local hits on the "bay bridges" comp than on the "hyphy hits" comp.

I love that E-40 record, though I've never listened to him before. Easily one of my top-five most-played/favorites last year. Other recommendations?

bay bridges

the guy who did most of the beats on it (most? all?), dj droop-e (of the pharmaceuticals), is e40's son.

Son?! Holy God, as Norm MacDonald would say. E-40 does have, like, nine records out, right? I will be checking this out; thanks, Baja. Er, baja.

I dunno if I made this observation on another thread, but I'm amused by how relatively laidback Hyphy Hits is to the Southern crunk stuff.

I keep meaning to put it on next to some Blood and Fire reissues.

Pretty much nothing outside of Devin and the Pack EP touch it as far as 2007 goes.
