Geir Hongro, Friday, 11 May 2007 09:03 (eighteen years ago)

I've voted Serbia, for Soul, Passion and Commitment (*cough*).

Taken purely on the studio recordings, I'd be leaning more towards Bulgaria and Sweden.

Taken purely on the OMGWTF-ness of the performance, there's no topping Slovenia's extraordinary Alenka Gotar, who made it through to the final yesterday. Did I detect a whiff or two of Lene Lovich and Yma Sumac?

OK, trying to second guess Geir's vote. Switzerland is complex yet melodic, with echoes of the Pet Shop Boys, and hence the strongest candidate. Or maybe Malta. Or even Ireland?

mike t-diva, Friday, 11 May 2007 09:34 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, Sweden. Of COURSE!

mike t-diva, Friday, 11 May 2007 09:37 (eighteen years ago)

I voted Sweden, yes.

The Swiss one was better than anything else I've heard from DJ Bobo, but that still doesn't make me like Eurodance. :)

Geir Hongro, Friday, 11 May 2007 09:48 (eighteen years ago)

The Maltese entry was just strange and weird, and Ireland sounds too much like Ireland.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 11 May 2007 09:49 (eighteen years ago)

Not a lot of votes here. Those who voted seemed to prefer the Ukranian mock-entry.

And we see what happens when threads fall off the main page....

What and the "poll xxx [started by Geir Hong]" just attracts co-respondants like flies?

Mark G, Monday, 14 May 2007 10:22 (eighteen years ago)

Well there is that factor, admittedly.

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 14 May 2007 10:30 (eighteen years ago)

I didn't vote, but I would've voted for Serebro if I had. Best Girls Aloud song released this year.
