MTV will not become decent again until they drop all those soaps and realities, concentrate on music, and merge all those hip-hop and R&B-shows into one weekly one hour show, leaving more space for other, non-R&B-derived, genres.

Well, if MTV are playing more EMO it is a step in the right direction. In the early 00s they hardly played anything but R&B and hip-hop at all.

On this week's made, a self-conscious Norwegian melody fan is made into a cheerleader.

I don't give a damn about the skin colour, but I want MELODIES and stable, predictable 4/4 beats that don't take the attention away from the melodies!!

I'm fine with Shakira morphing into Beyonce, but I don't even think they'd do that these days.

A lot of today's emo is less melody-driven than a lot of today's R&B.

ANYWAY,

the bit with Bob Odenkirk discussing the real names of rappers was pretty funny.

It's just the same opinion, over and over and over, and yet Geir can still derail any thread with it.

A repetitive melody is not a good melody. There have certainly been good melodies in a lot of R&B (Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye, Chi-Lites, 60s Motown, 70s Philly), but there is very little in today's minimalist, repetitive over-rhythmic crap.

Oh Geir, I meant YOU ARE REPETITIVE
